Re: Matsuri Playing Card - Coming Soon To KS
I like the card back design and the Southpark style of the courts. I'm not sure on the tuck art design though. We cannot see the whole box, but the side and the bottom look kind of plain.

For the tuck box, I am currently searching for mock up file too,
but I can show you the design diagram now.
* As we think Japanese "minimalism" style/design is very Iconic, might be we should happy about your comment on "plain" *

We do planning to start the project in 15th-20th of October if possible.
We are also considering the printing company too.. since there are Cardtamundi, MPC, USPCC..
If possible, please let me know which one will you prefer the most or how would you rate between them

Re: Matsuri Playing Card - Coming Soon To KS
I took 4 years of Japanese in high school so I can read the hiragana, but I think there definitely needs to be a card that explains what the Japanese words mean. That being said, I like the back design (good balance between simplicity and art). The aces, while it has that feel, personally I think that the Kanji/ hiragana distracts from the art.
Finally, the court cards gives me a different feel than the aces/back design. It seems more elementary/ reminds me of the illustrations in the Japanese text-books that I used to use. Perhaps a border might change the feel?

Re: Matsuri Playing Card - Coming Soon To KS
I noticed the style difference between the backs, Aces and courts as well. However, I like them all and don't mind them being together.

Thanks and happy to know that you understand the hiragana!KT52 wrote:I took 4 years of Japanese in high school so I can read the hiragana, but I think there definitely needs to be a card that explains what the Japanese words mean. For the extra card of explaining the Japanese word/hiragana, we plan to add it in the deck and was waiting the printing company(currently Cardtamundi) to reply.
We do tired different combinations on the aces , for example take away the hiragana or kanji, it will remains so plain, that is not something we want to see on Aces card.
From the word in the last paragraph, We will think about it and might end up adding some shadow on it.
Thanks for all of your advise [emoji2]

About Cartamundi, do you prefer the "Smooth Finish" or "B9 Finish"?
As we has experienced the B9 Copag playing card, but did not really handle a "Smooth Finish" playing card from Cartamundi.

Re: Matsuri Playing Card - Coming Soon To KS
Love Cartamundi B9 stock. Hate Cartamundi smooth stock.
I may or may not back this project (there's a lot to like about it), and everyone has their preferences, but for what it's worth, this one collector will not back any project with Cartamundi smooth finish. Nor, knowingly, MPC smooth finish. Nor any other smooth finish. I'm just done with smooth finish. Done, I say.

Thank you for your kindness.willroya wrote:Very nice. I much prefer USPCC.

However we think USPCC is going to cost more than Cartimundi,
beside the printing cost, there is still a considerable amount of Set Up Charge,
Cartimundi seems a bit friendly.
For the USA distribution, we are interested in, and let's hope we will be successfully funded

Re: Matsuri Playing Card - Coming Soon To KS
I think they look quite pretty. One thing that strikes me as a bit bizarre though is the choice to use a Japanese character instead of the index pip on the ace of spades. It seems it's just on that one card ... though the character appears in a few other places as well. I wonder what it means. Anyway, maybe a slightly controversial choice.

As an Ace of Spade, there are always "something more" then other cards/aces, so we decide to add the Japanese Word of "Festival".
We are going to make a video explaining those word or symbol soon, hopes that will help
"祭" is the mean of the celebration of "something", a Festival if you just translate it into English.

"祭" is actually Chinese in origin, though it has been adopted by the JapaneseRevelation Workshop wrote: "祭" is the mean of the celebration of "something", a Festival if you just translate it into English.

I really like the early bird pricing with free shipping to the US. A 72 hour early bird is intriguing—I don't know if it would help or hurt your campaign in the long run.

Yes.. that is the pointwingedpotato wrote:I really like the early bird pricing with free shipping to the US. A 72 hour early bird is intriguing—I don't know if it would help or hurt your campaign in the long run.
We know 72 hours might a bit too long. However, we do want to cover everybody and at least giving them 1 chance to think of backing the early bird,
go over the weekends n 1 week day.
We will think about it and make some adjustment, might make it 48 hours long only.

I do not really like the “South Park” style of the courts and would miss this one but I can seen the amount of work you put in and I wish you luck in the campaign.

There's a lot to like here especially the artwork. I thought about pledging for a bit but ultimately decided to pull the trigger. $11 is a good price and I hope this funds!
