So my love of Randy ended up outweighing my distaste for Pollock and I backed the project. But what really ended up being the catalyst was that schematic. The thing I don't like most about Pollock's style is how random it seems to be but after seeing the intricate work (and masterful 2-way backs!) you guys put into this I can look past the apparent "paint splatters" and appreciate this as a real work of art. I'm glad this funded so quickly, especially considering a 10K goal!

I wasn't feeling the tucks at first but what makes them unique is that they look like small artwork displays/pictures. Well that's actually what playing cards are... These will be nice to display on a desk, nearby a fireplace or something. I like the Artistry deck backs better but the colors of the Cardistry deck so I'm in for both.
The cards are nice, and I'm cutting down my collecting A LOT, but this has kept my eye on this project. I might end up backing it because of the display appeal of the tuck boxes.

Edit: Screw it. $38 for 4 decks shipped is a great deal and I am IN.

Hey Bikefanatic,

I've been to Chicago's Art Institute a couple times, but I don't remember seeing the Pollock painting. I'll have to look for it next time we're up there. Actually, before now, I wasn't really a fan of Pollock's work at all. A big reason I like working with Mike is he comes up with these concepts / themes that I would never think to build a design around. These Decks were a lot more fun to create than I would've ever guessed.

So fun fact, Bikefanatic and I met last weekend at Cincinnati Comic Expo! I had a Midnight Cards booth at the con, and we chatted for a little while about UC.

Small world!!

Thanks, Randy
Before I saw you, I recognized your work/decks. I like what you have coming up next, a lot of people will.
I been to Chicago last year around Thanksgiving time. I seen on a video that Pollock's 17a was one of the expensive paintings ever sold, around 2 million. Nice to actually see it but of course, there's hundreds of paintings that look better.

Just in case anyone missed the update...

BORDERLESS VERSION NOW AVAILABLE.

I immediately upped my pledge to a brick (4x each deck). With the early bird brick + free shipping, it works out to 7.33/deck.

Just to add in case you didn't go straight there after ICantShuffle's post :) , the Borderless version is a LE of only 1000 decks. He's got a 24hr EB for those of us who want to change to the borderless tier and still get the EB price. The LE Borderless deck is NOT available as add-on, so don't wait.

Also a custom brick box released. See photo below.

As most people know I like borders by and large. But I think it's cool that Randy listened to feedback and created a borderless version. I personally won't be backing it since I think 2 Pollock decks is enough for my collection but it sure is a nice add-on.

Honestly, I was hoping for the Red Artistry deck to be made borderless and not a new design. Surprised they created a brand new back for it.

I, similarly, was hoping that the Artistry deck would get the borderless treatment, but even so: I am very happy that Randy & Co. listened and offered what we asked for. I'm also happy to see that the project got a goose in backing as a result, at least as far as funds go. I hope it was enough to justify the extra work he put in! (And, if he does end up adding a second borderless deck, I'll up my pledge accordingly.)

New Randy Butterfield decks in my collection always bring a smile to my face. This awesome price point makes me even happier. :)

Now, then... a coin?

Awesome!! One of my favorite parts of a Kickstarter is when Backers start receiving their Decks.

I love how they turned out, and I hope others do as well!

During preproduction, the Artistry Deck was always my favorite. But after seeing the final results, the Cardistry Deck is replaced it as my favorite of the three. I think partly because of the powder blue and yellow color combo, that was inspired by one of my favorite NFL throwback uniforms - San Diego Chargers

I am familiar with the San Diego *cough* traitorous Los Angeles *cough* Chargers.

They're also the reason I don't watch football, they dashed my young naive hopes. I was but a vulnerable 10 year old boy with dreams of championship rings. And then we had to lose to SAN FRANCISCO?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

*ahem* Sorry, childhood trauma.

I was a huge Chargers fan during those days! Junior Seau was insane.
I remember that damn Super Bowl. I was in college, and drank a LOT that night.

After years os quick playoff outs, and the idiots dropping Drew Brees, I gave up on the Chargers.
Now I just root for the old home state team - Detroit Lions. They’ll probably never be good, but oh well.

I like all three decks, it's hard to choose, although I really like the borderless design.

Just out of curiosity, I just searched to see if any retailers had them, but I see the backerkit site is still up, if I place an order through backer kit will it still be fulfilled?

Not for a while. Any BackerKit preorders would go out when I get the leftover Decks from Gambler’s Warehouse (probably in a week or two). I’ll put them up at MidnightCards.com after I get them. The Borderless Decks May not be up there though. I think there’s less than 100 left of those.

Wholesale orders get shipped out tomorrow. I always have Gambler’s ship Backers’ orders first, and then wait a week to send the Wholeasle orders. That way the Decks arrive to a lot of Backers, before they hit eBay and reseller sites.

Thanks, Randy

I also noticed that a few days ago and immediately preordered on Backerkit. So does this mean that we are the runner-up after KS has been fulfilled, and anything left after the Backerkit fulfillment with finally end up on Midnight? Need clarification please.

Yeah, these turned out great. I mean, I backed them on KS because I likes them, but in person they are way better. I have to say the yellow and blue cardistry deck came out the best as well. Turned out to be a great color combo.

Ah, that was you? I’m sorry, but I had to cancel it. I thought BackerKit would’ve sent an e-mail letting you know that the order was cancelled, and that your Card wasn’t charged.

When the BackerKit Preorder came through, I realized that it wasn’t setup with any shipping fee (besides the $2.00 per Add-On Deck extra). So the total for the 3 Deck INT. order was $35.00. It would’ve cost me at least $24-$26 to ship it from my local Post Office in Indianapolis (Gambler’s has closed the books on any Backer fulfillment for Pollock).

I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Murphy’s will have a bunch of the Artistry and Cardistry, and 144 Borderless. So I’m guessing they’ll be available through JP Playing Cards in a couple weeks.

If not, I’ll save a trio for you, just in case.

Thanks, Randy

Double-checked but, yeah, no cancellation emails so far, but thanks for the consideration! I definitely want to pick up a trio, thanks to @stlbluesnut showing me the fulfilled product; far better than expected. I'll check JP for availability, but if it doesn't show up, I'll check your stock. Thanks, Randy!

I just got an email from backerkit that pre-orders are still available. It might be a good idea to shut that down.

I'm tempted to try ordering two more mixed bricks.

In my opinion, nobody else does color on playing cards like Randy. His cards are just vibrant. The Cardistry deck is definitely a new favorite.

Nah, $90/brick is a little bit different than ordering a brick of Arabesques at $80/deck. You get to keep the crown.

These are amazingly colorful decks and I really like displaying the brick boxes on my shelf. I am really kicking myself for not adding more on during the PM. These were honestly like the best value to backers in a long time for playing card campaigns, when you break down how much it was for a brick it's like $7 or $8 deck, for fully custom playing cards.

I don't know about ICantShuffle (not sure if "under a rock" is near Dallas or Dime Box, we do have a North Zulch (not a South Zulch though), Ding Dong, Moscow and Paris), but I live in Texas, so I tend to get Gambler's Warehouse shipments before most folks

We used to have a program on our local TV about all places in Texas (Ray Miller's Texas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Miller_(journalist)) and once they did a program on Ding Dong, Texas. Evidently the group trying to become a city applied for the name "Bell" Texas, but Austin replied that the name Bell was already taken. Then they applied for the name "Ring" or something, and Austin replied again that the city name had already been taken. Finally the group said, "What about Ding Dong? Has another city taken that name?" Austin replied, "Nope, your now Ding Dong, Texas. Congratulations."

I live in Southern California. About as far south as you can get without being in actual Mexico.

I seem to get my GW shipments around the same time/day as Brad, almost without fail. But, I have a feeling that has to do with Texas actually being quite large, so even though we're in different states, we're in the same USPS shipping zone from Dallas.
