Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
I think the signed ones end up being more limited. Is it worth $60? Not to me. I don't really understand the hype around the 60+ versions of the DB decks. But, I don't think they're "bad" decks by any means, I just don't know what makes them more appealing than say the RAVNs or other slightly customized decks for magic.
I like the S&B decks, I'll probably pick one up, unsigned. I really like the tuck. The "Eye of Providence" inside the spade is slick, especially gold-foiled on what looks like a matte navy blue tuck.

He has a very small following. I am sure they will be in the discount resellers before too long. ...or not.
It will be interesting to see how long they last.

Yeah, I picked up one brick as well last night when I saw they went on sale. I don't have many David Blaine decks, so going in on this one.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
I almost went for a signature deck because it does come with a sweet Carat case. However, I just went for two of the regular decks. I really like the tuck for some reason.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
For me, this has been a letdown.
1) It's not an original Mark Stuzman design or even original design, but a S&B. Not to knock the S&B as it's by JR, but this is the umpteen version of his S&B design for EPCC.
2) It's an EPCC , not USPCC. His USPCC decks have been incredible in handling, durability and packed with reveals. Not to knock EPCC, but they screwed up his Stoics deck.
3) $15 for a rehashed JR design printed by EPCC when his Lions decks still go for between $10 - $12 . I read on Reddit that these were marked, but still, $15 ? Can someone post a review of the deck when you get it to see if it was worth the $15?

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
The Stoic deck had almost universally poor reviews on handling, so I would've thought Blaine would know better than to go back to EPCC. The original S&B Private Reserve decks released as a limited edition by Conjuring Arts with the JN finish handled like complete shit as well. Are these printed in China, too? Blaine's decks used to be must-have decks, but it's amazing how he's letting EPCC single-handedly torpedo his reputation in regards to his decks. A retread design printed by an inferior printer and over-priced as well. Easy easy pass.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
My brick and brick box came in today.
As I check out eBay, I find they are already listed out there.
Here is a signed deck in a carat case for $149.95 (free shipping). It is sad you can't get it anymore on David Blaine's website for $75. Oh, yeah. You still can get it there for $75. Maybe this belongs on folks selling stuff on eBay that must be on crack. Him and the folks selling the $15 decks for $40.

This is exactly the type of person that needs to go away. Not you, Brad, the eBay seller.Bradius wrote:My brick and brick box came in today.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
Wouldn't tickle my pickle if it was $100. Sounds like a decent price for a signed $75 deck combo with a carat card case. The seller would make an okay profit for 2 things that can be bought cheaper elsewhere.aznh wrote:Well if it makes anybody feel better, it came down in price... Only $135 now!

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
Any chance of giving us a quick review of the cards? Was it worth $15 over his $10-12 black lions and tour decks? Would be much appreciated before I commit to these decks.Bradius wrote:My brick and brick box came in today.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
Well, unfortunately I didn’t get an extra deck. I am not wild about opening one of the decks and messing up the brick set. I also don’t have any other David Blaine decks to compare it with anyway, Dorry, but I can’t give a comparative analysis.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
So, I'm not the only insane one who occasionally buys a brick (because, ooh, great price/great design/more decks to play with) and then has qualms about breaking open the brick in order to get at one of the decks. I mean, clearly, I'm crazy, but I'm glad I'm not the *only* crazy one.
As for these decks, I like the designs, etc., but I've ordered enough different variations of these from CARC that I'm not feeling the compulsion to also order them from DB. Maybe my better sense is finally, finally starting to get a little bit of leverage over my OCD.
Hmmm.

Re: David Blaine Skull & Bones Private Reserve
I have the Red limited and Black limited S&B decks, I don't have the regular superiors-- I like the classic back superiors a lot, so get these DB decks just adds a cool flashy variant to my collection. I just received my decks last night, I gotta say the foiling and embossing on the matte tuck is really brilliant, like, in the literal sense. It looks very, very good in warm light.
