Sigh...
Looks like a pathetically half-hearted attempt to cash in on fans of the series. Does the creator have so little imagination that they really thought standard faces and backs and a blank card were the best way to do a Harry Potter deck? C'mon, even the laziest decks have at least a unique back...

Well, you do get four Jokers, and they are Q1 quality - they handle very nicely.
I don't even like HP, but I like this deck (and keep an extra sealed one around).

With just a little more thought and effort, they could have hooked HP fans, AND more card collectors than just the Bike collectors.

But nooooooo...

That card's blank?! Man, I gotta get my eyes checked! (Probably not seeing colors either, are ya...)

(Just went to find my opened deck to check, and it's disappeared! What kind of wizardry is this?!)

For comparison, check out the Harry Potter cards put out by Cartamundi:
Several new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows playing card sets have been released by Cartamundi licensed products, featuring new photos and promos from the final installments of the film series, as well as images from the previous six movies.

There are three different types of card sets; the one-set package with images of various photos from Deathly Hallows; the second which holds the playing cards in a 'magic box'; and a two-deck set for 'good' character cards vs 'evil' character cards.

Those put Bicycle's pathetic efforts to utter shame! I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but I'm thinking of picking up a Good vs Evil set!

I prefer drawings to photographs. They have more panache and there's a greater connection to the playing card faces.

I generally do too, but when you are doing a licensed property, photos tend to be an easier way to go. If they had a very good artist who could do the characters well, then by all means draw them and have them mirror imaged like typical Face cards are.

Agreed.

I usually do not buy decks which merely have stills from a film on each card, as it just seems...lazy somehow.

So, while I think this deck does more to please fans of Harry Potter (the films, at least) than the Bicycle HP deck, I feel it still falls short of truly working as a playing card deck, showing little if any knowledge of, and respect for, playing card design tradition.

They are nice thick cards, and have a smooth finish and a nice western design. I like them a lot.

Pretty sure a single shot of all the different back colors would have done the job.

Believe me, I know (You're talking to the guy who scanned in each and every one of those cards individually, despite the temptation to just scan the repeated ones (the courts) from one deck and use them for all the rest too).

I scan them all in, in part, to be honest (when I say the cards are from a certain deck, they will be from that deck, not from another with similar cards), but also because I wouldn't want to mistakenly think that a card was identical in two decks, only to be told something like "wait a minute, the Joker in Deck X should be smiling more broadly - you have obviously used the Joker from Deck Y!")

And wait, it's not just the backs that are different! There are also the boxes, the additional cards, and even the Spade Aces have different code numbers on them (although perhaps too small to be legible in these images).

Sorry it wasn't all that fun for you. :(

Got my Love Me decks, and thin bordered Monarchs today! Not impressed with the Love Me decks, but the thin bordered Monarchs are awesome (besides the borders being very uneven).
