Prepper Gun Shop Playing Cards

Unread post by flashcards »

Came across these while reading one of my "lifestyle" magazines.

Cards go for $4.99 a deck. No printer mentioned. Shipping is a flat $9.99 for one deck or a brick. That kind of put me off because I wanted to order just 2 which would make them $10 decks. I looked at the the magazine ad and found a coupon code: recoil38 for the first thousand customers. This code gives you one free deck as well as free shipping. My $20 for 2 decks was now a total of $4.99.

Probably not the best quality but a pretty unusual deck and I can really get behind the price. You brick buyers out there should love this. Happy hunting.

I know I've seen those courts before, but can't remember where...

Kind of an odd choice to use custom courts (even re-hashed ones) without any apparent connection to the name of the deck.

No thanks!

Code appears to no longer be valid so I'm out. $15 for this deck is way too much.

The KoH I recall from Ben Jone's Elephant Playing Cards' Prism series. I can't see the images that flashcards put up anymore.

Bingo!

These are from the King of Diamonds and King of Hearts in the various Prism series decks by Ben Jones.

So... were these licensed from Ben Jones, or stolen from him?

I'm guessing, with the repeating King of Diamonds, that these were not licensed.

Therefore, unless someone can speak to the contrary, I have to assume this is stolen IP. They will not be getting my money.

(Not that these blokes are the kind of people who I want to have my money, anyway.)

These courts are actually available to the general public by many card manufacturers and is considered a standard court set.

Wow.

That is totally news to me. I stand corrected, with perhaps a little bit of proverbial egg on my face.

Can anyone name any other decks that use these courts?

Learn something new every day, I reckon....

Black Market Playing Cards (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/98 ... ying-cards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

It was actually Ben who told me about the courts being custom stock courts in the Prism thread...

The cards arrived Monday so no complaints about the shipping. I thought the courts looked familiar as well. Thanks to Sherman for the clarification. Naturally the finish is that plastic coating found on so many cheap decks. The printer is Mr. Playing Cards (oh no, another MPC). The AoS says that they have been around since 1900 but I have no interest in researching them. At two decks for $4.99 total, I am not unhappy with them, although as I've established, I'm an accumulator not a true collector. I certainly wouldn't pay $10 or $15 for this deck either. I'm going to guess they got slammed and had to cancel the code. And so another tiny blip on the playing card radar screen fades away. BTW, added to P52 because, well, they are cards after all.
