Seal or no seal?

I wanted to ask this in a poll, but that doesn't seem to be an option so I'll just state it. I got 3 new decks in the mail today, Heraldry Red and Blue and the Silver Split Spades deck. The Heraldry decks have no seal, while the Split Spades has a custom seal. Personally, I really prefer not having a seal on the deck at all because I open my decks and the sliced seal (though I try to do it as neatly as possible) looks annoyingly like damage to me. Decks without seals I can open and appreciate and still put back into a pristine and undamaged box.

So which do you like better? Do you like having a seal on the box, or do you prefer not having a seal?

I prefer custom seals as well but I'd even take a plain seal over no seal, but then I either keep cards completely sealed/wrapped, or just open a deck and not worry about keeping them pristine after that, so I have a bit of a different approach and thought process.

I can appreciate a custom seal, but I would be happy with decks without any seal at all. The hassle of a seal outweighs its benefits. Keep the cellophane though, and keep it on the outside of the box.

Yes, it seems to me that the cellophane should be enough to ensure the box is new and sealed for those that want it, the seal isn't needed. If you are keeping it mint and unopened, you won't take the cellophane off and just use the seal to prove it's unopened anyway. For those who do want to open it, the seal is a pain and it hurts the look of the box, covers up the whole middle of the flap, etc. I think it's an atavism from the time before boxes were wrapped in cellophane.

I have never had any problems with seals, but I have to agree with Russell.

If a seal is present, it should match the box visually.

I prefer tax stamps . The ones on Rebels &Animal Kingdoms are great . Little customizations are also not bad such as the ones on Sultan Republic and the old Monarchs . Fathom deck should have a deep ocean blue seal , that would be awesome

A lot of people seem to be saying a custom seal is good but an ordinary one is not... I'm going to cut through a custom seal just the same as I would a regular one, so what's the point? Why not just design the box so that it has artwork or a flap design there that can look like a seal, but still let's you open the deck without damaging it?

I like to peel the seals off completely and stick them on the wall. It's fun peeling them off for me, something like opening a present a second time after feeling the box.

I'm with Russell on this. A custom seal I am willing to carefully peal off, stick to a piece of the cello and store in the box with the deck. Otherwise a seal is just a pain.

I like the seals either way. Obviously like them if they were custom (for display purposes), but there is something about having to cut into a "sealed" package that makes it more enjoyable.

Maybe card producers companies can come out with more ideas of sealing the deck . Or no seal but a 'fake printed seal ' near the flap .

I prefer and keep the custom seals but as a collectore I want them all to have seals so that if the Cello is damaged due to aging then the deck would still be sealed.

I like what D&D have done with the perforated seal. As much as I much prefer a nicely designed custom seal, sometimes a deck doesn't need it. The seal covers up some of the artwork on the box that I'd rather see instead of a seal.
