For me this is the best in the Superfly series so far.

-Diablo was interesting, i like the simple but eye catching back design & each card has one custom pip with the pattern of the back design. This deck is very similar to the Red Checkerboards (released later then Superfly!) by Anyone World Wide but Superfly is way cooler ;)

-Stardust was a bit disappointing for me, the back design is ok but all numbercards beside the AoS were 100% standard. The court cards have only very little changes beside a differnt hue from USPCC standard courts.

-and now Spitfire, which i'm excited to get. Crazy back one way back design & nice recolored face cards, i love that green. This time each card has a custom pip again like Diablo, well done.

My problem right now is that international shipping for 4 decks is 24,75 $, so i'll buy them later from a reseller in europe at a better total price.

Gemini decks are pretty good in general. USPC and crushed stock. Have to give them credit for trying different styles. I wouldn't call them cardistry decks.

And I also think we would get more participation from creators if we didn't instantly crap on them whenever they visit.

Meh. It was one of my nicer ways of expressing that I have no desire to look at these cards.

I like Pintson's designs!

His designs are almost always bold and unique. Pintson's designs use color, and use it well (two things that are RARE with most modern Playing Card designers). And he takes risks with many of his designs.

Just because most UC users frown upon semi-custom Decks, doesn't make them wrong. Actually, it's what a majority of Magicians, Cardists, Poker players and casual buyers prefer!

Thanks, Randy

I frown upon thee!

I just hate this back design. I hate advertisement of the brand on the back. It reminds me of ads on the ice at hockey arenas (or European teams having ads on the actual jerseys). 100% tacky. I'm okay with half-custom decks if they don't violate a few of my buying guidelines. Having "SUPERFLY" on the back gives me 0 incentive to consider owning these.

To each their own.

Edit: Allow me to add that I like the face cards. Both the bold color choice and the implementation of the pips incorporating a different design. Reminds me of what was supposed to be Ellusionist's 4-deck series of elements. The Fathom and Ignite decks were/are great and had a similar pip function. Really wish that they completed that series. 2 new element decks would have been way better than the 20 or so crapfest of Madison decks that they released.

This series has neither been so super nor fly enough for me to want to add these decks to my collection, but I appreciate the post anyways and know that even though this particular deck doesn't appeal to me personally, I can see how it would to others with the pops of color-blocking against bold patterns.

In general, "cardistry" decks (or whatever kinda style you'd classify the design of this series and other similar decks under) don't do it for me either, but that doesn't make them ALL indisputably "bad" - I think there can be some artistic merit, especially in this series, that should be appreciated - choice and use of color in particular as Randy had also already pointed out. Of the three that have been released though, I have to admit I like the stardust edition most; but again, still not enough to buy.

As for the name prominently plastered on the back, it kinda reminds me of other pop/modern/conceptual artists that utilize common text(s) in their work, like Barbara Kruger, Ed Ruscha, and probably most notably, Andy Warhol. Now, each of them did so for varying reasons - Warhol, for example, used already iconic brands in his work to evoke & capture relatable experiences among viewers as they were all instantly recognizable brands (Campbell's soup, Coca-Cola and Brillo Pads) whereas Kruger and Ruscha used often times common text without connection to a brand to distinguish their work, make it recognizable and became a key design feature they built much of their own style/brand around - and I think that's exactly what's going on here; They're building a brand with a distinct style and I think it's a smart design choice to include the SUPERFLY name on the back as it instantly differentiates their cards and brand by literally having it incorporated into the design - it's the same with Fontaines having their iconic stylized 'f' on the back (without it, those cards would literally be nothing and, although that's not to say the same would be true for these cards, the SUPERFLY text does undeniably help strengthen their brand) - besides, after all, many of those "cardistry"-type deck designs do tend to all look the same (at least to me) but with the text added in on the back design, these ones won't be mistaken for any others on the market.

My point being, the inclusion of the SUPERFLY name into the design is not ONLY for the sole purpose of advertisement (albeit, great for it anyways), but more likely rather to strengthen the recognition and relatability consumers have towards their cards - take a look at the Supreme fashion brand; instantly recognizable worldwide, and because of such, they don't spend a dime on conventional marketing strategies - all because of a simple text logo of the brand name in a red box. Warhol didn't used Campbell's name/brand to advertise for their soup, but rather to tap into the emotions evoked by viewers as they collectively related it to their own common experiences with that particular brand; and the actual meaning of the text used in Kruger's and Ruscha's work doesn't actually really matter in the big picture, rather it's the repeated use of specific font(s) and/or typeface(s) at all throughout most of their work that distinguishes their style from that of other similar artists' work.

I think it's OK to voice your opinion, even if it happens to be a negative opinion of the deck. But in addition to stating why you don't find a particular deck appealing, it would be helpful to add some constructive criticism on how the deck may be improved instead of just shouting, "I HATE this deck, it sux ballz!!! Its the worst thing I've ever seen!!!" This is just immature and adds no value to our forum, and possibly damages our reputation. If a deck is soooo bad that you absolutely cannot find anything redemptive about it, then why even bother posting about it other than to hurt the feelings of the designer? Silence is golden in those instances.

I like this deck, honestly. I'm not always a fan of these modern type decks, but this one has my attention for some reason. Maybe it's the color scheme. That pattern is super mesmerizing :P

I am not a fan of cardistry decks but Toomas seems to make the best of them, as he actually puts some effort in to them, unlike many other cardistry decks. For example, some of the decks have rather nice Ace of Spades', like the Luxor deck and the Pearl deck which has a nice back design.

I don't see myself ever getting any of these, but I don't hate most of his decks, which can't be said for most of the cardistry decks.

You see, your opinion here only makes sense if the deck itself has few things to criticize. Whether or not your post is referencing some of my posts, directly or indirectly, doesn't matter.

Sometimes people create decks that are 100% garbage, and I don't think that under that circumstance, it is our duty to tell them in each and which way they are crap. It's a waste of time. Your opinion on that level of maturity is vapid.

I already specifically stated in which ways this deck is worth $0 to me.

Yea sure but simply shitting on them and ensuring one fewer designer wants to be a part of our community is also a waste of time is it not?

I think we should be trying to grow the community and taking a dump on any deck you don't like is not a great way of doing that. When you post a full page vomit emoji on a deck as the first response to it being posted it not only ensures that designers (not just that particular designer who you may deem too bad to be of value to the community, but all aspiring designers who see that) will avoid this site. AND people who maybe did like that deck will also feel very not welcome. So if you want a site where only people who agree with your taste can collectively shit on anything you don't like and circle jerk about anything you do then keep up the good work. If you want a community with a bit more variety of taste and a bit more positivity then please consider not impulsively posting negativity devoid of content.

If you don't like a deck fine, but if you cant take the time to explain WHY you don't like it and can only muster the force to post "this is shit" or a massive vomit emoji maybe don't post at all. Let the people who do like it have a positive discussion about it, or just let the thread die as maybe it is shit in which case no one will comment and the thread will die out instead of being "bumped" by your emoji.

I am not saying we shouldn't criticize or should only post nice things, but if you feel the need to post something negative at least make it a negative post with substance.

For example:

"Counteroffer: $0" ----> "I really dislike when a company plasters text based logos on the back of their cards and for me that's a deal breaker and I wont be buying it."

Sorry if this post comes across as an attack or is out of topic, I just felt the need to say something somewhere and this was being discussed a bit here. Having half the threads I open on this forum being a post introducing a deck followed by twopiece taking a 3 word dump on the deck and then nothing else has become very frustrating for me. It kills discussion and gives the forum a very negative image that I feel is not helping keep this place alive as I want it to be.

Well, firstly, just let me say that my posts have no intention of insulting or repelling any other member just because they may like the deck and I do not. It would be pretentious of me to think that we "should" all have the same tastes in art and design. I think it's also outlandish to expect me to refrain from posts like that. Some decks make my brain vomit. If people are offended by that, well, I personally would like those sensitive people to avoid the site or communication with me. Not my call, though! If that keeps them away, well, I'm all the happier for it.

There will be the occasional deck that is so bad that I don't have the words, or care, to type out in how many words how bad it is. Sorry, not sorry, please get over it.

I also prefer to make myself laugh sometimes. My counteroffer post made me laugh. Also get over that, because sometimes I'd rather not waste my time typing too much, and prefer to be blunt or funny.

Edit: There is a Foe function on the site that will hide my posts if you don't care to see them. Please utilize it. I have done so for other posters. It's a good feature.

Edit 2: If you can't laugh with or at yourself... What is life..?

I also prefer to make myself laugh sometimes. My counteroffer post made me laugh. Also get over that, because sometimes I'd rather not waste my time typing too much, and prefer to be blunt or funny.

Edit: There is a Foe function on the site that will hide my posts if you don't care to see them. Please utilize it. I have done so for other posters. It's a good feature.

Edit 2: If you can't laugh with or at yourself... What is life..?
From what I gather, you enjoy being "savage", but sometimes miss the mark and climb closer to being an asshole. And I think that's why people take issue with your behavior. I used to find some of your posts funny, but I feel like you've saturated the forum with these kinds of posts, that they lose their humor.

That's just my opinion though.

I'm not exactly sure what this means. I don't take any joy in criticism of poor decks. I wish that every deck created and shared is great in some fashion, but truthfully, most aren't. I'm a hypercritical a-hole IRL, so it's probably difficult to filter that out when posting here.

Maybe you're right. I used to be funny, and now my shtick is old, because I try to post on every thread.

What you've said here has given me pause regarding this discussion. None of the above posts did that.

I already specifically stated in which ways this deck is worth $0 to me.
While agree that on totally 100% garbage deck where's everything bad its difficult to give a constructive criticism. The problem is that just, because you think its 100% garbage it doesnt mean it actually is 100% garbage.

If you think that giving a constructive criticism on bad decks is waste of time. Maybe dont comment at all since comments like that doesnt have any value/contribution.

You are right, its not our duty. It is not also your duty to free your seat to older person in the bus... its called Manners ... You dont have to, but it would be nice just dont be surprised when someone tells you that u are trash.

That was the point what people were trying to tell you and its up to you if you take their advice or not.

Since you already said why... I think its ok.

The Hate Part - Since I am one of the sensitive people and some people makes my brain vomit (sounds familiar).

Lol, I just noticed that the OP was the creator that changes a lot and its not ok. Its disrespectful.

I will tell you a "story".

1.
Lets say there's teacher (creator) who is ugly (bad deck) and student (2pc). If the student says to a friend that their got a new teacher and she is ugly. -> its not disrespectful (imo)
But if the student says that in front of the teacher to a friend. The student has few ways to say that she is ugly. The one with manners and with respect would say "Well, she is not so beautiful" or he can also add there "in my opinion", but our student (2pc) says "She is 100% ugly " -> which is disrespectful

2.
Now after being disrespectful (might offend the creator). Our student says "my bad " while laughing - sarcasm (2pc's 2nd comment) (might offend 2nd time) and after that "Meh, it was one of my nicer ways of expressing that how ugly she is " (might offend 3rd time).

Later the student says to the teacher: "I had no intention to offend you (after 3 times of might offending), thats how I talk if you dont accept it and you are offended you should not be near me or dont listen to me by putting your hands on your ears "(hide his posts in the threads with a feature)

Thats how TwoPiece is behaving in this thread with his "arguments"... like this student I was talking about...

I have no words.

3.
Also I would like to point out that he is contradicting/describing himself

He definitely dont think Alric should post (or whatever 2pc meant by typing "Thanks for your contribution to this discussion.")... when Alric replied to his post with only facepalm emoji ... since it has no contribution to the discussion.

Its funny, because thats what TwoPiece did with the 3 first posts in the thread ... 3 posts with no contribution ...

Now I am quite curious how would TwoPiece react in case Alric would reply this:
"Sometimes your posts are 100% garbage, and I don't think that under that circumstance, it is my duty to tell you in which way thats a crap (by using constructive criticism). It's a waste of time. Your opinion on that level of maturity is vapid."

Okay.

Perhaps we can turn the conversation on this thread back to the deck, instead of dissecting different interpretations of how one of our members responds? He has already said that he has been given food for thought; let's please let it go at that and return to the Superfly Spitfire deck.

Thanks.

The Superfly series or the style. Its like imitating the brand SUPREME. Everytime when I look at it i think its Supreme.

And dont like it much. The back design is interesting ... tbh quite cool.

Although its not my cup of tea... in case I would have higher budget on decks I would get one or two.

FYI - They are sold out on the website , but the distributors are going to have them imo. At least saw it as "coming soon" on one website. So they definitely were sold wholesale.

I actually went back and read the previous posts from before I was here, and in light of that discussion, I will just say these are not for me. It's pretty much everything about this deck. The text, the random shapes just pasted on top of each other. In fact, it is pretty hard to describe what irritates me so about this deck (and frankly most, if not all, of the Gemini decks). But, some people like them, for reasons I cannot understand besides being a hype deck and liking them just because everyone else does.

My constructive criticism would mostly be don't do this, but they are making money so... you do you I guess.
