I'm holding out to see how much the collector box is.

The price of the deck is actually within the price range of other collaborative decks out there (Black Rock Collective, Versus, Suit Up, etc.). 30+ artists have to be compensated, so the price makes sense.

However, the lack of a collector's box is another story..

But coincidentally I was out consuming alcoholic beverages and shaking my derriere tonight, so I was able to buy one of these things after all. Like wally, I'm still not sure if this is a good thing. I also feel dirty, but for other reasons as well.

Tom you don't expect an american company to release the deck at 3am PST for the one or 2 europeans that might buy the deck hehehe. I am sure they did not have a meeting last week and said "let's screw that Tom guy and release the deck at a logical time in the US"

Most other companies releases are more EU-friendly. I'm not expecting them to make all releases optimal for europeans (which, btw, 3am PST would NOT be), but MOST D$D releases have been at 8PM PST, which is the absolute worst for europeans.

I've been keeping my eye on this one. I promised myself for 2013 I was only going to buy decks that I had to have. It makes more sense to buy the uncut sheet then it does the actual deck. I generally don't buy uncut sheets. Its disappointing that the collectors box was used to market this deck and its not offered on initial release. That was my ONLY incentive for possibly buying it.

I will be passing.

I feel very similarly. The uncut would make great art but I don't have room to display more of those, and the collector box (which has been in pretty much every picture so far) is nowhere to be seen. Add to that the fact that they let you put "only" 1000 in your cart at a time implies there are many more, so they probably aren't all that limited. Plus the "most expensive ever" annoys me, since its not true. ;)

I would much rather see "limited printing, only xxxx decks available" as opposed to "available for a limited time", with no definition of limited. One day, one month, a millennia, until the next Mayan apocalypse, it could be anything. They could print ten million decks in that "limited time".

Those of you holding out for the collector box...there will not be a collector box. That was exclusive to S&S employees and such. Not for sale. That comes straight from the source.

Bought two of them despite the Ouch price. RSLancastr got me hooked on arty cards with the Key to the Kingdom transformational deck (thanks RS have been able to buy several) and these look to have that kind of potential. No boxed set sucks! Why do they feel they have to flaunt that to us only to pull the carrot a way?

CBJ, I have been thinking the same thing. Thats an awful lot of time and expense for just a few employee handouts. If they weren't intended for sale, maybe they will realize the demand and produce them, even if only in a (reasonably priced, one would hope) set with the double decks. That would be $50 for the decks, and the box/bags pricing would be interesting. I would guess a charge of $79.95 for two decks in a "limited edition" set with the box.

It will definitely cost a bomb . A deck 24.95 . 2 decks set . 50 for the decks and maybe a 30 for the box

Well.. I received the e-mail today!

"Hello,

I'm excited to inform you that we shall be producing a limited batch of the Ultimate Deck playing card gift set. The box includes two gilded decks of cards, within custom made velvet pouches, contained inside the presentation box – as seen on The Dieline.

The Ultime Deck gift set will be sold for $200 + shipping costs."

So basically... $150 for the special packaging

Ouch, I really wanted one of these.. but I'll have to pass

I just heard back again...

"We have ordered enough to produce just another 100 sets. At the moment we cannot foresee another batch being produced, as this is the first time we have ever re-produced our Christmas gift and offered it for sale to the general public.

We are a very small design agency so do not have the infrastructure to produce this on a large scale, therefore at the moment the plans are to produce just this extra 100."

Despite my initial buyers remorse I am now pleased I purchased this deck. The box
is quite stunning. Because of the price I only ordered one but it is a nice addition to the
collection. I did not open the deck. Like many of us I like to leave a deck intact for the collection
but a friend of mine opened his. Very unique. DandD can be annoying but these are great cards.
I think I may have to breakdown and open these puppies. By the way does anyone know if these sold out. I can not check as I am having computer issues.
