I'm in for the deck.

You all need to get plane tickets to Vegas? I just drive there, and stay at my family's place. All I need is enough for a tank of gas (hyrbid FTW) and something to eat when I go. 8-)

Sorry but a print run of 3,500 is anything but “ultra limited”. What a complete nonsense

I'm almost certainly going to drop my pledge. Only available to first-day backers (you know they're all gonna get theirs)? This campaign is getting worse all the time.

Asad also opened the latest update with, "Hey Mint Fam", which is just stupid.

The only really rare deck is in the Producer tier. That tier has a super key deck. This is a nice foiled deck. For most of us that like complete sets, it is a decent deal. $26 for a foil deck that is is of a substantially lower release than the rest of the series is a good deal in my opinion. Will it go up in value? Who knows? Not me, for sure. In US coin collecting for Morgan Silver Dollars, if there are only a few thousand surviving coins, that is rare. For Seated Liberty Silver Dollars, if you have like a hundred or less survivors, that is rare. It is not always so easy to compare rarity in collecting. It depends on how many want it, how easy it is to obtain and how much someone wants to pay. I think several people say correctly, "It is worth as much as someone will pay." If you are looking for an investment, stay away and buy stocks, bonds, mutual funds or something. If you want it because you like it or want it for your collection, then consider it. I think it is as simple as that.

If you later have regrets not getting it sooner and have an early rare deck of Lorenzo's or Lotrek's that I need, come see me. 8-)

3500 print run for this rare foiled deck while showing White Regalia (by Cartamundi) and not any other metalux or USPCC foiled deck, is an interesting move.

Whether it is Cartamundi or USPCC, a 3500 print run deck can be sold for sub $15 with free shipping (for US at least). If any other relatively lesser known creator would have done this, he would have been fired on the forum by now....

Well, the White Regala cost me like $18 each for two. Your point though has merit, but this is a different case. Although as you say there is a tad profit built in for the creator. I am not shocked.

I can't speak for others but I for one have always commended artists for trying to make as much money as possible. I mean why not, right? Sometimes they go a little too far but ultimately we vote with our wallets. "A deck is only worth what you're willing to pay for it." And regardless of the amount of decks printed or the profit margins, a foiled, USPCC deck for $26 shipped is within an acceptable prince range as far as I'm concerned. No firing here...
Having said all that, this project is an anomaly- it's the exception, not the rule. So trying to make any sense out of it is fruitless IMO. Is he trying to maximize profit? You bet. But is he gorging us with ridiculous prices? I don't think so- I'll be getting four USPCC decks (1 foiled) for $67 shipped. Nothing outrageous about that!

No matter what Asad would do... many people is going to complain anyway... people are so dumb who doesnt understand that this project this big there is no way to find a way to make "ultra limited" deck so everyone would be satisfied...

and I kinda dont like Asad's selling strategy... his concept is different... 13$ each even if you buy a brick and 15$ after the campaign is way too much for a worker deck which was the point of the Mint series as a magician there is no way I would use this Mint as my worker deck...

Yea the prices are bit higher from the beginning so its obvious that he is trying to earn as much as he can, but I dont blame him, because I would do the same...

And about the re-selling thing what TwoPiece said... I understand his point and I totally agree with him... the purpose of selling Mint decks as a product to earn easy money is wrong... Of course he can do that and its legal, but it shouldnt be like that... it reminds me of resellers who buys tickets at concerts for reselling... just imagine that the Artist would advertise the tickets as "reseller product" to earn money like Asad does.... this is what TwoPiece was trying to say and as i said I agree with him

Yea many creators which has "fair" and "friendly" image do this Chris Ramsey now Asad as well... I am kinda disappointed from these two since they have to boost their sales like that even if they dont have to... the difference between them and Zach Mueller (Fontaines) is that, Zach's concept is on point he is advertising his deck as hype product and using hyping techniques... he doesnt hide this at all.... While Chris or Asad got the "friendly" image, but in the end they are no better than Zach ...

I just dropped the original "limited" deck for the foil "limited" deck and am pretending the stretch goal was foil being added.

If you take the about $44,000 above $300,000 and divide by $26, then you only come to less than 1,700 of the foil decks sold so far. They certainly haven't flown off the shelves.

Then again, there are only 3,319 first day backers. Even if all of them bought their one foil deck, there will be 37 left (keeping in mind 144 are being held by the creator). So, those eligible that don't get a deck will add to the extras, plus first day backers that either drop their pledge or don't pay for their pledge also become extras. I guess that is why he is not worried about knowing who from the first day backers have added for this foil deck until after the campaign. Even if all of them get one, he will have a few left over. That can also explain why he set the print limit at 3,500.

That doesn't account for people who may have dropped other decks and picked up the new foiled deck. Either way, at this point, I don't think I want anything to do with this campaign.

Also, the Producer tier includes 1st day backers, so if every one of those who pledges gets their 1 deck then there's nothing left for anyone else. It's just garbage.

I’m probably going to drop my pledge as well. That print run for the “ultra limited” deck does not sit well with me at all. I didn’t really like the colors of the decks to begin with, plus I’m not a magician that can take advantage of that marking system. They are decks that everyone and their grandma will seemingly have and so it doesn’t appeal to me.

Does anyone really believe a deck printed in the thousands is actually limited just because the advertising and hype says so? There's no point in getting butt-hurt by that anymore. $13 for a good looking deck from the USPC with a premium tuck box is very reasonable to me, regardless of how many are being bought. I think knowledgeable collectors all know by now that the $19 limited version will never sell in the secondary market for much more than $20 because its not actually limited, most people who really want one are getting it easily in this campaign, and the market will be saturated with the limited editions. So there's no point whining about that, either. And the foiled version, which isn't limited either at 3000+ decks, is priced at $26. Again, for a good looking USPC Metaluxe deck, $26 ain't bad. I don't see why some people are getting bent out of shape just because Asad is selling an ass-load of decks. Just let the man rake in his cheddar in peace. Oh, and news flash: he's gonna come out with more re-colors in the future cause we all know he's going to milk that cash cow until the udders fall off - deal with it.

Total pledge should be $38 +$26 +$13 = $$77 plus the $10 shipping your pledge would come to $87. I am not sure if the free deck forces you to upgrade your shipping to $20

EDIT: I guess that free deck would indeed push you to increase your shipping by another $10 thus basically negating your free deck
In the end I put a total of $97, I don't have time this time to follow the campaign as a true supporter, I'm sorry, and I don't want to miss the opportunity to get the combo I want. They will use bakerkit for sure, so.. there will be time to fix any mistake.

Everyone's definition of "limited" is different. I personally couldn't care less- if I like the deck I will buy it. Also, I believe T11's White Centurions had a print run of 2,500. But can you easily find any of those? The point is if you're really in the market for a one-of-a-kind deck that has a print run of 1,000, 500, 100 or less than this isn't the campaign for you. I remember reading that White Cents were 1100, which could explain the scarcity.

I suppose if you really think about it... ANY deck that's not in continuous reprinting (i.e. riderbacks, T11 decks) are limited. Most custom decks don't see reprinting.

Touché but I'm sure there's examples that I can't think of at the moment of hard-to-find decks that had a 2,500 print run (1st Ed. Black Ghost?).

Max's first Metal Texture Riderbacks (Red version) are impossible to find. I think there are one or two on ebay for like $50+ each. That is it and there were 5,000 issued.

Technically and legally speaking, this is absolutely correct. I can print 100,000 decks, but if they're never to be printed again, then it's considered limited. That's why I usually put the term limited in quotation marks because it's just bait to easily part gullible collectors from their money. What is a slap in the face for me is when a deck producer screams in their ultra-hyped advertising that their deck is super "limited", NEVER to be printed again. Then they turn around and reprint that deck with minor, inconsequential modifications to the cards or tucks.

I agree with alric here, the term "limited" is basically meaningless now, buy the deck if you like it, or vote with your wallet if you don't. If one doesn't like the marketing going on here, it's still OK to discuss that, however. But at the end of the day, Asad is allowed to cash in while he can and it's kind of pointless to begrudge him that.

In the event that all of the decks have all been claimed by the time you get to your survey, you will be able to use the extra $26 to get two more standard Mint decks (Blueberry/Cucumber) instead."

In the event that all of the decks have all been claimed by the time you get to your survey, you will be able to use the extra $26 to get two more standard Mint decks (Blueberry/Cucumber) instead."

yikes.
Wow... Is he being serious? So backers are paying for a chance to receive a deck, not for the deck itself.
I really didn't have a problem with the way he's handled this campaign UNTIL NOW. This is horrible. What an aweful thing to do to backers! He's acting like we're his puppets.
its the same tactic as hype business..

A few brand ask to pay to queue or like going to a Supreme store where there isnt any service, because they know it will sell no matter :/

But beside me bitching about it...i will get a set to complete my set :sigh:

Yeah... The "give me money now for a CHANCE at the remaining decks" update sealed the decision to drop my pledge. Absolutely pathetic. I'm thoroughly disappointed.

The problem isn't necessarily Asad's attitude, I think he's just struggling with the logistical limitations of Kickstarter as a platform. It really wasn't meant to be treated like a pre-order platform. But, ironically, some of the most successful campaigns in its history (card and board games) were treated pretty much as such.

A better way to handle it would've been to allow day one backers to pledge for it during the campaign, and then offer the remaining stock in backerkit to all backers after the campaign. I'm assuming that for a campaign this size and with many variations of reward tiers he will be using a pledge management platform of some kind.

That would have at least ensured that anyone who wanted one that had the cash would get one, without taking the cash up front and then crossing your fingers.

Well, the pot is now at $488K and looks like it might break $500k, which is amazing.

I didn't find it surprising he added the Collector tier with the remaining prototype decks, but required the purchase of a brick of each type. Even with the $552 price tag, all 38 sold out by the time I checked. Not that I was interested. I am still backing the campaign, but only for one or two of each type. It will be an interesting addition, but not something I want to hoard.

In any event, it is a huge success in that it is bringing a lot of people into the playing card backing group at over 5,100 total backers. That is a good thing in my book.

Same here 2 each not gonna hoard also

The Kickstarter is a success but leave a bad taste for me :/

1) it was kinda of stupid and greedy of Asad wanting to increase the producer pledge instead of a smarter choice like collector pledge initially.

2) Thanks the backer and say ‘he wish he could give back to backer' (i could be wrong with this part) but didn't give anything until a big stretch goal of $500,000.

I wont have issue if he didnt say it, but he said in during a live YT or on his YT video (cant recall)

3) Using below msg on Frost mint deck $19 pledge (it is a business tactic but kinda of unnecessary)
"Retail Value: This is expected to become a high value collectible deck. Currently, The original Limited Edition Black MINT deck gets sold on Ebay for $150-$200 PER DECK!"

I don't think it brings in that many to backing group.

I feel like half of ithe 5,100 backer are just majority reseller or extra dummy account in hope to get the extra foil deck ($26)....why because when i clicked on about 12 to 16 (yes small as sample) default profile account i only see recently made account with 1 backed (mint 2) or old account which only have 1-2 project backed. The remaining majority are just lurkers which once in awhile will back

Last time bitching :ugdance:
