Re: Unreleased Z-Deck by Steve Minty
I wanted to mention that there are 2 Anime TV series I grew up with from 1969 into the early seventies. Both were dubbed in French (since I lived in Montreal)
The first one was "Le Prince Sapphire" or The Princess Knight which was the story of a princess pretending to be a boy so she could be in line for the throne instead of this evil duke. It was actually pretty good
The second one was "Mini Fee" or Sally the Witch which was one of the first ongoing anime series produced. Basically it is the story of a young witch living on earth. Supposedly this anime was inspired by the show Bewitched
In the end pretty tame anime but when you are 6 years old it was fine hehe

Re: Unreleased Z-Deck by Steve Minty
With Tom & Jerry being previously mentioned, I must say, that it is one of the most violent cartoons ever. I personally love(d) it. If it was created today it would never be aired for children lol. I hate modern society's "standards".
USPS is telling me that the Z-Deck is being delivered today. I can't wait to open it after work.

It’s really not that ‘secret’ anymore and since he did sell it to the public (albeit a limited group), I don’t see why it shouldn’t be added to P52.rorschach wrote:If it's a 'secret deck', should it go onto P52?

I actually reached out to Steve and he asked it not be put up, yet. He's trying to keep it low key for now. Might be good to take it down, considering.

Guess I should have waited a bit before uploading it to the site, I only have permissions to add decks, so i'll see if I can find someone to remove it.flyers3003 wrote:I actually reached out to Steve and he asked it not be put up, yet. It sounds like Steve wants to keep them under wraps, so I would refrain from putting them up for auction. At least check with him first.

Why?? He bought the deck, He can do what ever he wants with it!Bradius wrote:It sounds like Steve wants to keep them under wraps, so I would refrain from putting them up for auction. At least check with him first.
Regarding listing the deck in P52 I also don't understand why Steve wouldn't want the deck there, unless he have something to hide... Eitherway, I belive that the deck should be there, he sure can't prevent us from putting it there...

I have no idea what copyright and/or intellectual property law is like in the European Union, so maybe you are used to a more lenient/permissive legal climate for derivative and fan works. But in the US you can get in pretty hot water for selling products featuring someone else's trademarked characters/likenesses - provided the owner of said likenesses notices you're doing it and decides it's worth the time and money to sic their legal department on you. My assumption is Steve is trying to keep a low profile on these decks so he doesn't get smacked with a copyright infringement claim from licensees in the US (presumably Funimation and VIZ).sms69x wrote:Why?? He can't prevent you from doing anything now that you've bought it; it's not like you had to sign an NDA to order the thing. It's more just a courtesy to help Steve avoid getting the pants sued off him.

Re: Unreleased Z-Deck by Steve Minty
I'd tend to agree with this, I's rather not cause Steve any trouble with this. I would also much rather respect his wishes as he is one of my favourite deck artists. For the time being i've tried to replace the tuck art with generic placeholder images, but it seems P52 keeps art in it's cache for some undetermined amount of time.Merlebird wrote:I have no idea what copyright and/or intellectual property law is like in the European Union, so maybe you are used to a more lenient/permissive legal climate for derivative and fan works. Re: Unreleased Z-Deck by Steve Minty
I've been watching this very closely, as I've been thinking about doing a very similar release of the Big Lebowski Deck I had finished about 80% of, before switching it to Bowl-A-Rama.
I have a Midnight Cards booth at 10-12 shows a year, 2018 is my second full year of shows. A couple months ago was Indiana Comic Con and Chicago's C2E2 Comic Con. I sold a little over 300 Decks at each show, and about 10-15 Giclee Art Prints at each show. Most of the Giclee Prints sold were Big Lebowski Court Cards. I realized that selling non-licensed Intellectual Property items at Comic Cons are pretty much a given. Almost every artist is selling prints of characters from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Deadpool, Avengers, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, and so on. It's like the Wild West at those things!
So, I'm thinking of finishing up the Lebowski Deck, create a Rug Back Card, and print 1,000 Decks along with my next real release. I would save most of the Decks for Comic Cons, but I would offer a 1 or 2 Deck limit within the BackerKit of the real release (very similar to what Steve did with the Z-Deck).
So far, it looks like Steve is keeping everything under the radar very successfully!
Thanks, Randy

Re: Unreleased Z-Deck by Steve Minty
Ctrl-F5 (windows), Ctrl-shift-R (macos) should help clear your local cache. I'm pretty sure anyone who hadn't seen the original listing yet will see the updated images. I like this solution better than removing it. Nice job rorshach!rorschach wrote: I'd tend to agree with this, I's rather not cause Steve any trouble with this. Oh come on, that's it? Just 1 ace and 1 court? No joker and the rest? Don't tease us like that! Be kind, especially to the DBZ fans and show us the rest of the courts , power ace and jokers. Hope he's got more to sell at the next secret sale. Thanks BTW .

That's it I'm afraid, just want to entice people enough to buy it themselves lol not give everything away, it is a secret deck after all. I will say this, Piccolo is easily the coolest court, as you would expect of course!
