Dammit. Would have loved to get my hands on this. Was busy all Friday through Monday.

This French seller has some unopened Grimauds for cheap: Here, here and here

Not going to lie, these are no way the best designed Grimauds out there, but I think that the Rois de France and the Dames de France are okay (the third deck is not really that well designed to be honest) and these are unopened vintage decks for 8 € per deck so the price isn't bad. If anyone really wants them, here you are.

Not a whole heck of a lot going on my search for great deals on ebay tonight, but I found some

Bicycle Dead Eyes foil case for 17,85 USD, tuck has tiny dent. 2 available.

Sentinels v1 for 15 USD, 3 available.

Smoke v1 and Mirror v1 currently at 10 £ per deck, however still got almost 5 days to go, so the price will go up. Still, something to look out for for those that are looking these decks, or for someone who just wants to flip them and get a good profit :D

Mercury deck currently at 12,50 USD, a bit over 2 hours to go.

An opened vintage Arcco deck starting bid at 9,95 USD, 23 hours to go. Opened, but in good condition. For those wanting to own a vintage pre-USPCC Arcco...

Toscana by Cavallani & Co currently at 0,99 USD, a bit over 4 days to go. The deck is opened but in good condition. And I know, I have posted this deck several times now, but for less than a dollar? That's a sweet deal.

I wouldn't consider this one a "great deal". $85 after shipping. They're usually available for $50-60 USD including shipping. I am gonna keep an eye on those Smoke and Mirror V1 auctions.

Yeah and made a mistake with those Sentinels earlier on, I remembered incorrectly the difference between v1 and v2, now I am not sure which edition they are.

I thought that the original Empire decks go at least 100 bucks per deck, but I am not an expert on that deck.

I don't have the Empire decks and was looking at prices on Tuesday, so that information is fresh in my mind, otherwise I wouldn't have known any better.

Getting the Mercury deck for under $20 with shipping is better than you are going to get from Vanda or the web resellers.

I did note on Vanda's website that you can still order the regular issue Venus decks as a preorder at $10 per deck. I am not sure about shipping though. Anyway, if you wanted a deck, this is probably the best way to get on the train before the decks are delivered and the price increases.

Two decks Oberg Eskilstuna (Sweden). Sealed. No idea how old or how rare these are but at current bid of USD9.99 you're not paying more than you would be for a pair of modern Bikes.

Another two decks, "N.N." US Navy. Also sealed, though the cellophane on one is torn. Again, no idea of age or value but even if the two-deck case is fake leather USD12 doesn't seem like a bad price; it looks stylish enough.

these are a pair of hidden gem`s

eskilstuna is the place in Sweden where Obergs manufacture cards, the tax wrappers indicate that the decks are pre 1960.
the box...that`s the give away...these are actually a pair of Comedia decks designed by Stig Lindberg , dated 1958

Glad to have your expertise, Jase! And glad to hear they really are a great deal. I'm always a little nervous to post in this thread; I haven't been collecting long enough to have a good knack for discerning the diamonds from the rough.

I don't suppose you'd know whether these are worth the AUD25 asking price? All the listing says is "vintage European, 52+1," which is probably enough for somebody to go on, but not me. The label on the tuck starts with a P (Piatnik?) but it's hard to make out.

And for the less (ahem) refined among us: yet another pair of decks, Playboy (1978), sealed and with case. No bids, USD15. Case doesn't close all the way, unfortunately, but again, the price is low enough you might not care.

EDIT: Jase, while you're at it, here's another bargain-bin mystery deck for you, this one USD13 shipped, sans box.

the first one from australia is a pack called "Prince" printed by VASS of germany around 1937-1944 , these are a reprint of a Dondorf pack called "Queen" which was printed around 1926.
Pretty good deal :D

the other pack "CFS" don`t know about, need to do a bit of digging after work to see if i can find out about them.
i kind of like them though 8-)

It's Sealed Pair Day, apparently... here's a 1930s two-deck set mint in box. Box reads "Duval." Backs look lovely, but no idea what the faces are. Currently USD40, 3 bids, ending in a couple days.

And continuing the theme, here is a sealed pair of gilded Arrow Playing Card Co. decks, which the listing dates to between 1940 and 1965. USD25.99 plus 5bux shipping. Again, no idea what the faces look like, but lovely backs, and at 15 dollars apiece shipped it's a steal for a modern gilded deck, let alone one that's 50 years old.

My only concern is the lack of packaging. I've collected quite a few tax-stamp sealed decks circa 1920-1950 but I never bought any without a box/etc. It's easier to store and gives me a safer feeling about the cello/wrapper/deck condition. You are right, though, the back design is great and it's a great price for a gilded deck of any age.

Gilded Ford Thunderbird double-deck, sealed and in plastic case. Boring (excuse me, "minimalist") back design, but the jokers look charming, and for USD7.50 apiece shipped you probably won't find a cheaper gilded deck anywhere else.

32-card pack of Altenburger Spielkarten in leather case. Opened, but the cards look to be in good condition. USD30 shipped. No idea of age and the back design doesn't appear to be pictured either.

This last one I'm almost hesitant to post because I'm considering picking it up myself - the case is very charming and looks to be in excellent vintage condition - but I'm curious if anybody here knows more about it. Andreas mini deck, USD45 shipped. I'm mostly interested in how old this is and what the courts look like. Jase? Anybody?

That mini deck does look interesting, especially the case. I am not into mini-decks, but I think the case alone makes it worth consideration.

Speaking of card cases. I picked up a very interesting moroccan tooled leather card case (holds 2 decks) on ebay awhile back for under $20 when the Arabesque deck was being revealed. Something like this styled case could really work.

you can get a bit more info about these on Page 3 of the Germany thread of the worldwide timemachine.
i got a few of these skat decks and the backs are the same as shown in Dazzelguts post.

the joker is a ITALCARDS (from Bologna Italy) Joker and is used with their version of the standard English Pattern ( a nice enough in-house pattern, but standard just the same) the leather tuck is not original to the deck.
Italcards have be producing decks from the mid 1970`s and i believe are still producing cards today.
My opinion is that $45 shipped is too expensive

Renee Sturbelle double deck, opened but apparently complete and in good condition. Per WOPC first printed in 1947, but possibly reprinted in 1960. Starting price USD22.99 plus $9.50 shipping, currently no bids.

It's an interesting design - cartoonish but not whimsical - and the modern abstract feel of the lineart is tempered by the softness of the watercolor. I'd pick it up myself, but I don't collect double decks (inconvenient to store).

Single deck Venice Simplon Orient Express (1986), not sealed, in a plastic box. Complete deck per description. Currently listed at USD28 shipped, auction closing in six days.

And if you missed out on Gio's Lunatica campaign, no worries, because this lunatic has the four-deck set on the auction block for a pittance. Current bid is USD1.00 (not a typo), $4 shipping. For the price-conscious among you, that's $1.25 a deck. Get on that.

Thanks for the tips Merlbird. Sometimes, someone on ebay will put up some nice stuff as a pure auction. I doubt that will end up at $1.25 each. At least not if I have anything to say about it. Thanks for the tip on the Orient Express deck also. I really like the one-way version though. Anyway, Lorenzo has my money right now.

Yeah, not a fan of the two-way version. The joins (lined) and corner pips (cut off) are classic Paris pattern but neither really sits well with my aesthetic sense.

(In order to get the correct sense of the preceding please read it as though I am saying it while taking organic fair trade double espresso shots with my pinky out and also through an enormous and well-oiled lumberjack hipster beard.)

The Lunica set is up to $49, so it is getting up to a more reasonable price. Although it was about 78 USD during Kickstarter for a set.

Okay not from ebay this time, but hwat the heck: Naipes Zaca has a couple of nice decks: Jules Verne by Grimaud for 7,80 € per deck. I own this deck, it is in my TOP 150 list. It's quite nice. Louis XV by Grimaud for 7,80 € per deck. I do not own this one, but it looks very nice. I really like those Jokers! Cartes Recreatives for 13,90 €. This is 36 card poker size 1980's reprint of an old transformation deck. It's also limited to 800 decks. I own one, it's a really nice one. The cheapest one on ebay I could find of this deck is for 39,95 USD per deck. And then this cat deck for 6,50 € for which I know nothing about, but looks quite interesting.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.
