DMC Sharks
DMC Sharks
I just accidentally came across these while searching on Google, seem relatively new.
You can get these here http://www.davenportsmagic.co.uk/acatal ... -2767.html but at £8.00 they are a bit pricey. They are also not USPC, but are from Cartamundi and seem decent and were made for some magician named Drummond Money-Coutts (aka DMC)
There is also a teaser vid here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilAUgCgQ ... r_embedded

Just ordered one since shipping is (for once) low for me. I'll let you know what my impressions are.

Re: DMC Sharks
Hi guys -
Just seen some hits come through from this site (never seen before, looks great) - Carta Mundi did a really phenomenal job with this deck (unlike previous order) and the cards really do handle beautifully. Moreover - the box is quite a deal thicker than USPCC boxes, with a super smooth satin finish to it. All in all - they've come out great - if you guys want a deck drop me a message though the site: http://DMCMAGIC.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and will send out a courtesy pack to any particular card collectors / lovers. I never produced these to sell - they were only for my own private work, but I gave Davenports a handful to sell last month and they immediately sold out. Now - they have a whole heap, and they've fixed the price, etc which I think is in keeping with all their custom decks they sell.
Also just had these made: http://on.fb.me/126e2nB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - which are beautiful, too. Anyone want one (or let's say - first five to message me) very glad to send out a free pack.
With very best,
- D.

Fair play to you, that's very kind of you. You didn't need to do that at all.
I apologise if I caused any offence with the slightly blunt message above, based on that reply it was undeserved and I shall edit it now.
Re: DMC Sharks
No problem at all, JP.
Guys - have had a little deluge of messages through the site now - so sadly have to hold the offer for those that have already messaged me, but they are still available through Davenports' site. Two or more decks, and they throw in one of the Card Cases for free, too.

Re: DMC Sharks
Got my deck already, so Davenports ship fast.
My first impressions:
- The deck feels slightly more plasticy than USPCC cards. Bends easily and not very stiff, but still enough snap to make decent springs.
- Faros surprisingly easily both ways (front to back more easily), though not as smoothly as USPCC decks.
- Holds well together for cuts and armspreads, better than a brand new Bicycle deck.
- Fans were also surprisingly good, not so good right out of the box but better after handling/breaking in for 5 mins, and quite close to perfect after getting used to the stock. Sadly though, the pips are too far from the edges and make for fugly face up fans.
- Felt like I had a slight residue on my fingers after handling them, and they felt like they had been powdered VERY lightly, especially on the edges. Nothing visible though, but whatever it was it seemed to improve the handling compared to decks that clump up the more you touch them.
Overall very pleased with the purchase, I haven't handled many Carta Mundi decks before, but these were a new experience for me handling-wise. Let me know if I've left out something important or if there's something more anyone wants to know.

Re: DMC Sharks
Got mine today. Although a bit pricey, they did throw in a wrist band and a custom outer box.
The cards have a nice "feel" to them, a bit plasticy as mentioned previously but I like it. The tuck box is impressive, very thick and stiff, it definitely won't tear easily like many Bike tucks do. Custom Jokers and AoS are very nice.
Expensive for what they are but a nice deck, I think this manufacturer can be a decent option for European KS going forward.

Re: DMC Sharks
I agree, but what I don't like about it is that it is way too big for the cards.Strag wrote:The tuck box is impressive, very thick and stiff, it definitely won't tear easily like many Bike tucks do.

They rattle around quite a bit when you carry them.

Re: DMC Sharks
Another thing that I noticed that bothers me about the box: It seems to have its "front" on the back, while the back design is on the front.
Re: DMC Sharks
Hi guys, thanks for the feedback on these cards - I'm the graphics guy who worked with DMC to make the Sharks. We took your comments on board for the next deck, especially the comments about the tuck case being too big - I totally agree and we have got our manufacturing partner to redesign the die that he uses for fabricating the boxes and switched to a glued base to make it physically work better. The cards are a perfect fit now (although the box is still super heavyweight)
I don't know if any of you guys are interested but the details for the next deck in the series, the Great Whites, are at our new site:
http://www.sovereignplayingcards.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I hope you like them, they are being printed now.

Re: DMC Sharks
For anyone interested there are actually 12 decks of the original Sharks here that DMC has sent me, his last as far as I understand, and I have just added them to the Sovereign website. Slightly sad to see them go, but I can't keep them cooped up forever.

Re: DMC Sharks
I found these on ebay for around $16, shipped (to the US): https://www.ebay.com/itm/DMC-Sharks-Pla ... 2854893492" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It seems legit although I haven't received my decks yet so I cannot confirm. But if you ask me, I would jump all over this- $16 is a great price for these!

Thanks for the post. However, these just don't make me want to bite. I hope they find a good home though.
