Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Just received the 2nd Federal 52 Edition today... Does anybody has some issue with their decks or just me. His letter press tuck doesn’t seem to fit the deck. It just don’t look good to me and the press tuck Limited deck are the same as the standards deck. Kinda overpriced for the Limited to look same as standards!! Feeling of disappointed!! I tried to put a pix but it kept saying file to big.

I think that most of us knew the "LE" deck was just an expensive tuck swap.niceguy0750 wrote:Just received the 2nd Federal 52 Edition today... Does anybody has some issue with their decks or just me. Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
I just got my decks. The super version is basically a deck of cards in a regular tuck wrapped in cellophane inside anothe tuck. I didn’t even get signature cards! I don’t feel the love...

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Got mine.
I know people says collector pay a lot simply to buy the tuck.
Now JR make it 100% real. The letterpress edition is really the tuck and the ordinary edition. And what's more, not numbered, and the tuck is obviously too small to hold the cards and the original tuck.
I bet JR want to at least somehow fit the deck into the letterpress deck, and then changed his mind. "fk it, backers are morons they don't care"
Well I care and I must join the party here to put some dirty word on JR, which I tried not to

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Jackson did reply to me quickly that he had explained in the last update that the signature cards would be mailed separately. He is correct in that this was explained in his last update.
That said, as was mentioned this letterpressed tuck was undersized for the job, I do appreciate his more direct involvement in making these tucks. But I am underwhelmed at the quality given the cost.
I still like JR’s artistic talent, but will be a bit more careful and selective in the future.

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Can you please tell me which update it was where JR clearly states the Letterpress tuck was going to be undersized because I can't seem to find it anywhere.Bradius wrote:That said, as was mentioned this letterpressed tuck was undersized for the job
As of today, I haven't received any of my decks. If my limited versions tuck is poorly made as the ones I've seen online and what people are complaining about, I'll be seeking a full refund with my entire pledge being shipped back to him.
There is no reason for this type of error/incompetence from JR when paying $86 for two decks, in which case one deck is completely botched.
It's one thing to say, this is only a rendering and the final product will be different. That I can except, a different shade of color was used during print (eg. Texas deck) or the design and overall artwork changed or the type of stock being used has changed is the only acceptable term when saying "subject to change and may differ substantially from what is presented in images and copy while the Kickstarter project was active."
It's another to say "this rendering will actually be smaller then the tuck box itself because I can't seem to get my measurements correct when die cutting the paper for the tuck"
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of JR's work and have most of his decks in my collection, but this type of laziness is not acceptable. If this project was outsourced by USPCC/EPCC/MPC and the limited edition tucks came to him exactly how he produced them for us, would he except it for what it is? NO! of course not, USPCC/EPCC/MPC would correct this mistake and re-print the sleeves to properly fit the tuck. They've done it before with other errors they've made and promptly corrected it, and us backers have had to wait and can except a wait as long as the problem is fixed and communicated with us.
Now I ask, why is it ok for us (his supporters) to accept this type of behavior when clearly it was no fault but his own. Why couldn't he just post a reply stating the cutting for the limited edition boxes fell to short and will need to redo them. I find whenever it benefits him, he'll post a update to tell us of the problems. But whenever JR doesn't want to come forth and own up to his mistakes he blatantly ignores posting any updates, and ships out whatever was made and expects people to just accept it. This is how this campaign went.
This will be the VERY last time I EVER support this asshole.

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Don’t get your hopes up. This limited edition was far from his best work. The best that can be said is that he hopefully is learning how to do better on his 1964 Heidelberg Windmill Press. Given the cost we paid, he could afford to have practiced until he arrived at a spectacular tuck. I have two limited editions. Not sure which tuck gets which limited number signature card. I guess it doesn’t matter and is not important. Perhaps the numbered signature card isn’t important either. This one has unfortunately underwhelmed me. I still think Madura art and such is well designed. As someone else is producing the boxes, I have hope it will be done right.

guess we wont be getting any more custom letterpress decks. found this when I came across a deck jackson was selling.

That's good news IMO. He picked up a hobby for about 18 months, made some money off of it, and now he's moving on to hopefully better things. I had literally no interest in the homemade LE tucks.aznh wrote:guess we wont be getting any more custom letterpress decks. found this when I came across a deck jackson was selling.

Well, I am glad I have these LE custom tucks. There are so few of them and they will never be made again. It will be a true collectors item. Yeah. Let me work on my eBay sales pitch as I dump (I mean sell) my LE decks.
Nah, while I am disappointed, I am glad he was trying something different. Being creative. I just wish he had put more effort into it. It held potential. If this is a path of custom tucks, I think it is best to go to a group of printers that do this professionally. Even Lotrek uses a printing company to actually do his printing.

There is absolutely no way to do printing at home. Service and maintenance of the machines cost A LOT if you want them to be properly functioning. Being regularly in the printing companies I use, I'm always amazed by the level of expertise these old machines need to operate smoothly. The result can be stunning and far more impressive than an offset printing but the inks are mixed with too much sweat...

So he just announced his next move: Hand-Gilding!
So expect some left over decks from his previous campaigns with gilded edges!! Can't wait...
- Since for one special tuck box sleeve that doesn't fit the deck one paid $60 how much do you think he will charge for one JR hand-gilded deck??

Isn't that his wife's job is to proof read everything he does??
We all know JR has problems with adding & spelling. Again, there's his "take it" attitude and yet, most members here continue to support him. JR gave up on UC, just as Paul Carpenter has. They BOTH don't provided theirs supporters with any responses to all our complaints/comments.
What a joke the card community has become.
When will people learn to not support creators that continue to use people as pawns. (Most creators are exempt, Alex, Lotrek, Jody, Lorenzo, Geo)

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
It is absolutely astounding to me that Jackson made such an error on yet another deck. Especially after he's always touting how many KS campaigns he's run and how experienced he is and how he knows what he's doing now. To still fail to do something has fundamental as basic proof-reading after all these campaigns shows me Jackson either is too lazy to do a proper job proof-reading, or more likely he just doesn't care enough to ensure these types of mistakes don't keep occurring.
People on his KS comments section has brought up the points of ill-fitting sleeves/tucks and the error on the legend card days ago and Jackson has yet to address either of these two issues, just like he's refused to answer questions about screw ups from some other past campaigns. Why is it so hard for Jackson to acknowledge his mistakes? He could so easily just say:
"The letter-pressed sleeves were not made by machines, but rather are individually hand-crafted. Therefor some variations in tolerances are to be expected. I apologize if the sleeve didn't meet your expectations and I am willing to make it right by sending you a remade sleeve that will actually fit, or offer you a full refund."
"The production of a Kickstarter playing card campaign has numerous moving parts, and unfortunately despite a creator's best efforts, sometimes minor issues slip through the cracks. The legend card was misprinted with a minor typographical error. However, said error has no effect on the utility or playability of your cards. Nonetheless, I expect perfect cards of only the highest quality because I know that is what you, my supporters, expect of me, and I offer you my apology for this minor mistake. If you feel you no longer wish to own your deck due to this minor typo on the legend card, then please return it to KWP for a full refund, shipping included."
Easy. Done. He humbly acknowledges his mistakes, offers adequate apologies to his backers, and gives himself the opportunity to make things right. Everyone can move on without any disappointment or hurt feelings. I just don't know who's advising him in these situations. He needs to ask himself, "What's more important, my pride or my supporters?"

That's exactly my point. He's been here (UC) months ago. (OCT 2017)
Paul hasn't bothered to address any of the concerns or issues people were having with their $30 purchase of Radia.
It's easy to promote a deck here as he did, but as soon as people have concerns he disappears. My FACTS has been checked thank you!

Exactly my point. Just because you deal with him via email, doesn't mean he can't come here to address peoples concerns.
But you continue to support him, it's people like you that are the pawns to their game.

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
If you look at the top and bottom of the deck, you will notice the flap sticking out and the banners repeating (the top banners are part of the top flap and should be hidden behind the bottom banners). The way the gold tuck seal sticks out is also quite annoying and the Federal 52 sticker is kinda loose (it is holding the two sides of the tuck together) and gets bent easily, which will crease as it is a foil sticker (there is a subtle crease between the L & 5).
I just can't believe he had the nerve to ship these out, but I guess having to redo them was too much work...it is obvious he just doesn't care.

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
Looking at the design, it had the potential to be really nice. But if the banners on the flaps (especially at the top) were supposed to align with the banners underneath and cover them up when they're closed, then the tolerances are significantly off. Since I haven't seen the deck, I just figured the outer sleeve would be super tight, maybe even bulge just a little bit, but I'm pretty surprised Jackson even let these out now that I see what they actually look like. I have to believe some of these came out OK because there's a few comments on his KS from backers who are raving about their decks. Or maybe they're just sheep.

Re: FEDERAL 52 "part two"? AND DIE CUT EDITION
This is obviously not his best work. I would have thought he would have accomplished a better result. That said, it appears that he is stopping his custom cases, so the few that he has made are rather limited. Maybe they will be worth something. Maybe that is wishful thinking on my part. I am okay with them in a disappointed way. But, oh well. Not all my purchases are hits out of the ballpark. I have been surprised the Gemini Experimental has not sold well on the secondary market. Again, oh well. It is a very limited issue and as a collector, it is nice to have those rarities in my collection.
