I love and own the previous 2 decks. And while this is different, at first glance it's just not different enough to me. I'll keep my eye on these though. I could be swayed.

I agree, the faces look identical and the backs aren’t very appealing.

Re: NEO:WAVE by Montenzi - Soon on Kickstarter
thanks for comments. it's a mini series of decks so thought it would be great to try same faces.
Also it's the main idea of the original deck if you have not known this! In general, it's similar to real life - how one person can be viewed and preceived differently by different people, in different times! That's why all faces were asymmetrical in the original NEO.
The artwork itself is very different even for me.
Just a quick comparision. Top line are NEO:WAVE cards. They are all one way so I am posting both.

Apparently no one is aloud to speak negatively towards anyone Bruno deems worthy. Sorry for speaking my mind on a public forum! How very entitled of me.Bruno wrote:Creator busts a gut.

Looking at the two decks there are obvious differences like I said before. But there are obvious similarities as well. That doesn't make it a bad thing, but it's not different enough for me to back, especially when financial decisions have to be made with so many different projects at the moment and the fact that I already own something very similar: the 1st Neo's. So please elaborate, how am I "slagging"?

Agreed! That's why I bought the first decks.Bruno wrote:Great Art and excessive overcraftmanship shall be rewarded.
Maybe thinking the design is too similar to the first edition is petty. But then what do you call it when the very designer himself says the faces are the same?Bruno wrote:Pettyness, not so much !
In any case, I will be eagerly awaiting the next release by this designer because I do love his artwork.

Re: NEO:WAVE by Montenzi - Soon on Kickstarter
Relax please. They are just cards. If they are different or the same for you it's fine. All is good. BTW ALL decks with standard faces are the same for me I see no difference. Absolutely. Just a box and a back. Too boring. And it's fine. I have nothing agains standard decks... just don't buy them

Heya Alexey, don't mind us.
Valid criticism is as welcome as your talents.
You are so obviously over-critical of yourself that pettyness in the victor manner is entirely unwarranted.
Vic perceives not, even when shown the error of his off key squarking.

Hi!
Do you think that classic geometric patterns works better for this deck? There is something that is driving me crazy and I am trying to find a balance///
I can still use the old back for the Ultra edition.
Not exactly but something like this:

Shooting from the hip:
* the one on the left looks too "candy" for me
* Something about the two on the right really draws me in.
* Especially the one on the upper right.
Glad you're planning to keep the wavy full-bleed back.

Yes, but how many decks with borders were you going to buy, anyway? Heh.MagikFingerz wrote:Geometric patterns aren't waves, though...
That said, yes, the deck needs a new name: NEO:GEOMETRIC PATTERNS THAT AREN'T ACTUALLY WAVES

LOL
I have been fighting with the back design for two weeks already.
Waves~Sea~Ocean~Pirates~Sailors and so on. Same theme...so
I like old waves but now I understand the reason of all the delays! I need something even more simple and classic for this deck. There is nothing more classic than a geometric pattern

Overthinking it? The original waves were cool. This is something totally different. Anchors deck? Maybe you're afraid you wouldn't get backers but I for one was all in on the early versions, especially borderless.

Re: NEO:WAVE by Montenzi - Soon on Kickstarter
After about a hundred of very different mockups I realised that I need a "classic" back. I want to sleep well. So I am happy now. I could still change some details in this design but not too much.joeblow wrote:Overthinking it? The original waves were cool. This is something totally different. Anchors deck? It will be a good pair for the original NEO.
And some funny facts - I started NEO as a pirates deck but then changed the concept. In this project WAVE means anything you can imagine. It's fine@
I am not going to change the old "wild" waves for the Ultra edition.

How will the backside be printed, CMYK or Pantone?
