Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
Previewed on his FB / Instagram page. Not much info except letterpress and releasing in January, most likely a KS project.
Doesn't seem to appealing to me, just thought I'd share.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
Yeah, this one looks to be a pass for me too. I guess I will wait and see what the courts and such look like, but the cover art for the tuck is very uninspiring. That said, I could see Jackson doing something with intricate contraptions that might be possible with detailed Steampunk like robots/machines for the courts with his typical details that really could work. Ah well...

I'm sure he'll market this as a "player's deck" that's meant to be used and sell at a "lesser" price-point of $25

Same. I saw it instagram and thought “meh.” There’s nothing about the tuck that I REALLY like.Cardians wrote:Previewed on his FB / Instagram page. Not much info except letterpress and releasing in January, most likely a KS project.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
When I made the decision not to have anything to do with Jackson anymore, I felt a slight tinge of regret because I thought I would probably miss out on some beautifully designed decks. Flywheels helps ease such concerns. Given the last few decks he's been involved in, I feel the artistic quality going downhill. I think Jackson needs to #practicemore.

Ok, you got me.
I jest, of course.
There is a serious tendency by some to take 'emselves too too serious.
To expect any sorta response from KWP is seriously sad.
Done yer dash, as we once would have said.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
Jackson posted this on his IG account that these will be released on Friday (most likely on his Kings Wild site). A standard slate version and limited red editions. According to his pictures, both decks are 250/qty.
He also goes on to mentions in his comments that EPCC will be releasing their own version but without JR's courts. When? Who knows!
Still a pass for me. I'm sure he'll charge $40+ for the limited edition and with no bells or whistles attached to these tuck boxes, not sure how he expects decks to "fly" off his shelves.
I really can't see myself purchasing anything from JR even if it's printed from his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press. He's never going to be able to emboss/metallic any tucks that come off this press (which I like), and to charge a premium for a deck because it was printed from home, just doesn't justify it for me.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
The back design looks very well done. Simply put; he's a great artist. I'd be all-in if this was a new creator. It's only a percentage of his potential, though.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
Well it seems that we can expect a lot of this type of decks from KWP in the future.. I mean, standard KW courts a random back design and his now trademarked tuck boxes (from his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press!!) we won't get any of the whistles and bells we would expect, but the tucks will be printed on his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press (don't know if I mentioned this already)... Curious to see the price point on these, but won't expect anything lower than $25-$30 (after all the tuck boxes are printed in house on his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press). Which eventually will make it an easy pass.
EDIT: Oh wait, is that joker depicting his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press???!!! I may have to reconsider my easy pass on these!! (How awesome it will be to have a joker showing the machine used to print the deck's tuck box?)

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
This is a 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press. The flywheel is much smaller.
Here is a typical flywheel with arms. Google couldn't help me find a flywheel with curved arms. I would guess it not an optimal design and harder to manufacture.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
What company will print a 500 only run? I'm curious or will he destroy the other 500+- from a 1000 print run that I thought was the minimum you could order. Thanks.
Move on, nothing to see here.

JR is probably printing everything using his Heidelberg Windmill Press, but you probably already figured that out by now.

I don’t really care about animation backs anymore since other decks like the Fantastique and Mechanic decks already had them. Plus, those animations are better than that of the flywheels.
Overall, I’m just not really impressed by this deck. The only thing that I really like about these are the limited print run of 250 each, but it’s not enough for me to purchase them.

I think it's kinda cool. If he's not gonna blow us away with spectacular designs then at least he's trying new things. Being progressive is the only way he's going to continue making money in this business and it's still working for him, obviously.

I think he's just trying to pay off his new toy. Yeah they were $15 a deck so he went easy on the cost but this is lazy work for him. Push yourself JR as you say drawing is your passion.

Re: Flywheels (Jackson Robinson / Kings Wild Project)
Exactly what is new and progressive about this deck? Handmade letterpressed tucks have been done before. Animation incorporated into the back design has been done before, and much better than this basic animation. All this deck showed was that Jack$on still has 250 fanboys that will snatch up anything he puts out. If anyone really likes this mediocre design, than all they have to do is wait for EPCC to release the remaining 1500 decks they printed at a much lower price without Jack$son's arts and crafts tuck project. If you like the animated backs, go get the Fantastique, Mechanic, or Grotesque decks.TwoPieceFeed wrote:I think it's kinda cool.
