NEO deck by Montenzi
Hi guys. I am working on some decks right now but I really need an advice on this one.
What do you think about asymmetrical court cards?
I have 3 options - A) to keep it as is B) to use same heads and change hats style C) to design 100% symmetrical courts
Thank you!

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
Really nice colour scheme you have going!
I like asymmetrical courts - especially when they reflect two personas or aspects of the character.
I think with your design having a fragmented look (shapes separated by white in between), the more emphasised headdresses [K0S top left] & [JoS bottom left] seem to work best (for me), bringing focus back to the head/face... Maybe play around with different hat/head styles - and from there the question about symmetry might answer itself
-- edited because I'm always confusing my left & right

I like the asymmetrical approach when done right, and these are done right.

Hi! Thank you! Working on details (heads) so all artwork will be ready this weekend/next week. I'm planning to print this deck with USPCC.

Nice updates! I like how the faces pop now - also, adding the darkest colour into the headdress works really well

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
Much improved. The bold colors give the figures some depth. It catches the eye more. On the other hand, I noticed the faces for all the males and females are pretty much the same. The only difference in the males is styles of facial hair. Those without hats are even wearing the same hairstyle. Same for the females. If this is an artistic choice, done on purpose; never mind. Otherwise, a little more variety in the faces of the figures would make them more interesting.

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
yes, working on details. I'll post other K+J later as when I finalize their style.
Faces are different but not too much. Same for hair style. The issue - when you see this half of the card you should understand that it's just a half of a card but not a completely new card.
Hairs will be updated later.
In real life you'll see something like this, 4 cards but not 8

The Kings and Jacks look too similar. The diamond pips don't look better than regular diamonds.

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
I think if you could make the borders thinner (or make them disappear altogether for a true borderless design), this would be off-the-charts.
That said, count me in even for what you have. Love the tucks, love the cards, love the way everything goes together. Great work!

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
Yes I agree! Current plans: two Editions of the deck will be printed... Unlimited edition (USPCC) with borders, standard box. Limited edition (WJP) - borderless, 5-6 colors of foil on tucks, possible embossing, internal printing, new card stock (LOVE it!).rousselle wrote:I think if you could make the borders thinner (or make them disappear altogether for a true borderless design), this would be off-the-charts.

I am going to share a Kickstarter preview link with HM and HT backers in 2-3 days. Planning a campaign on Sunday morning NZ time, Saturday US time.

Thanks~
Bruno, no stretch goals for LE, it will be available from the start. Planning 500-1000 decks BUT 500 min, 1000 max. If more than 500 we'll print exact number for KS + 50-100 decks for our site.
Borderless ... with fake borders edition sketch :

Re: NEO deck by Montenzi
Wupsy, my mistake.
Keep repeating this, these can handle it.
Neo.
Nice, really nice.
It must be said, I am glad you have given this name to your design ....
Because a memorable deck deserves a memorable title.
Neo, by Montenzi.
Good.
