I dig it, at a basic level, but I like standard decks with clean art on the back. Price per deck is going to be the make or break for me.

100% agree. What would this deck add to a collection? The tuck is incredibly bland - no embossing, no foil, nothing. Other than the OK back design, there's nothing else that lends itself to the theme, which is foliage. Slightly recolored standard court cards certainly don't. Its always a concern when promotional pictures of a deck showcases standard courts but excludes any pics of the AoS or jokers. It makes me suspect they're even more boring than standard courts. Maybe if these are going to be basic user decks priced at $4.95 per deck it may make sense, but you know that won't be the case. Instead, they're going to try to sell us on how this is going to be so "limited", or how smooth the edges are. There's too many strong decks coming out for me to pay too much attention to a deck like this one. . .

my review with more pictures

Yea, but here' s the kicker for me - the kid is 16 years old and he got Nick Vlow to do the art for him, he's done all his own research with Legends and Art of Play
He's got a strong following on Instagram and this deck is 1,000x better - and with a stronger campaign than I have seen from a lot of other fan boys.

So i'm backing him on principle, I don't just back projects I like (remember kickstarter isn't a store) I also back things I believe in.

I want to see more decks like this on kickstarter and less of other crud that's out there.

Sam's a good kid

And it's a good work horse deck

As I mentioned above, I like this deck. However, two decks shipped is 32 USD =42.3242CAD.

I don't $21.16 a deck shipped like it. Nor do I like it enough to get a brick. I can't justify spending the money on it.

edit: Guh. Just checked the brick and it would still only bring it down to > $18 a deck.

It is better than some of the crap on KS but it's also fairly standard which will make it harder to fund. I'm on the fence about it myself.

I'll only pay for a standard deck if it has a blinged out tuck.

Hello everyone!
I'm Sam, the creator of Foliage. I appreciate the feedback I'm seeing on here, and I assure you that I understand where you are coming from. I am doing my best to maintain a classic feel whilst accommodating those who feel that the theme is neglected. I am currently in the process of modifying the cards to meet that standard, and I will be sure to post about it here when I finish. Thank you again for the feedback and support.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I considered a foil tuck and decided that it didn't fit the concept of the deck. Instead, the tuck will be high-quality matte paper for a luxurious feel.

The shipping is done through Art of Play, Dan and Dave's company. They determined the shipping rates. I apologize that it is so expensive for you.

I really like what you said about the purpose of Kickstarter Magic_Orthodoxy. It is sometimes about helping new folks entering the business. I back a lot of products (playing cards and a lot of other stuff) and quite a few never get funded. A few that get funded never see the light of day. The decks are not very original in my opinion. I am glad he is working to redesign the court cards to better fit a foliage them. I think that will help better, plus he should post the court cards in the campaign whatever they look like. That draws a lot of potential backers toward or away from sponsoring decks. There were a few EB slots for one deck, so I am in too. I hope it gets funded.

For the record, I was fine never collecting decks when I came across Lorenzo's Gemini campaign. Yeah, that is what sucked me in this card collecting vortex. Thanks a lot Lorenzo.

I promised to revamp the faces, and I have done so by including the Foliage leaf as the top-rightmost pip on the embassy cards. Additionally, features on the court cards have been replaced by the leaf.
