Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Looks like I will e waiting for retail sales as these are pricey for International and I'm not sure yet that I like them; same guys who did Ritual. Pips seems tiny...
By request; adding the following about Ritual: The pictures on KS showed VERY thin borders, the actual cards themselves have rather normal size borders. This could be considered misleading.

$8 for the deck.. and $7 (+the 2 & change incorporated into the $8 for U.S. shipping) is sickening

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
Why so close in style and colors as the Ritual Deck!??
At first glance I thought it was a revised version of the Ritual Deck (not counting the Tuck Box).
I wonder why they didn't at least stray away from Red and use a Blue or Green as the highlight color to change it up some.
Thanks, Randy

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
nope not gonna jump in.
there is 0% savings for me as a supporter in compare to the ones who are getting the decks later of the shelves.
the first deck by those guys is distributed by Murphys Magic Supplies World Wide in nearly every magic shop for less then i would have paid during the Kickstarter campaign.
(i would have paid 11€ ($15) for one deck incl. shipping and now i can grab it for 7.99€ ($9.50) from my fav. magic shop.

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
Too similar to the Ritual deck. And contrary to the images, it most likely has standard borders just like the Ritual.
Not falling for that again.
Not falling for that again.
Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
The tuck and back design are pretty, but the faces are far too similar to justify $10 (+$7) for a deck so soon. Without signed and numbered decks or early bird rewards, there's really no reason for me to pledge for this when I could get it from a reseller if it reaches its goal. If the faces were different, or an addon that's unique that isn't a wristband or something that was offered in ritual, then I'd pledge.

I understand making a profit, that is why EVERYONE starts a KS project, including myself.
$7 for shipping one deck? No. Make your profit on the cards, not gouging international customers.
CCCC prides ourselves in charging customers for shipping NOT HANDLING.
-----EDIT-----
I'm dumb. $7 for 1 deck is about right, I was mistaken (drunk).

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
Hey Russell,
I'm not sure I understand why $7 is considered so high? I just got done shipping a bunch of decks and the average cost for one deck in a bubble mailer to places like Australia and Germany was between $5.50 and $6.00. Given that the labels we use are about 15 cents and the mailers are around 15 cents, $7 doesn't seem unreasonable.
If I'm off base I'd really like to know what we can be doing to bring those costs down. When we started our Cthulhu deck you were really helpful and we certainly don't have the experience in this industry that you do so any tips would be great.

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
I already mentioned it, but I want to underline it. Maybe Strag could add it to the first post too.
Their first deck, Ritual, had very misleading pictures regarding the borders of the deck. Even on the box the backs are shown to have very thin borders, but the actual cards have standard borders. I'm contemplating asking for my money back, because it's really false advertising.

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
I just received my Ritual decks today and I have to agree, this pictures were misleading in the KS and the borders are, in fact, rather ordinary. I'm also quite disappointed with how insanely TINY the pips are. I also thought the colouring on the backs was quite a bit redder than depicted on screen (and on the tuck). What I did like about the deck? Well I quite like the look of the courts. The embellishment in the upper right and lower left of the cards is quite cool. And they did get the fading of the background rather nicely done. But man oh man, those pips!MagikFingerz wrote:I already mentioned it, but I want to underline it. I also got a couple of the card cases (will be posting pics in the "Look what I added" thread later) and those are indeed quite nice. I really hope they hold up well, I can see using them for quite a while to carry decks around.

Uhh, sorry about that. I was out of line (drunk*) a bit earlier. $7 is about right actually. It costs us around $5.85 to ship.
I was watching the Notre Dame BCS Championship game last night. ND lost 14-42.

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
The thing is that the border issue applies to the faces as well. Had the pips been as close to the edge as the pictures showed, face-up fans would look awesome. But alas...Strag wrote:I'm also quite disappointed with how insanely TINY the pips are.

Re: Divine by Elite Playing Cards on Kickstarter
But also think about the fact that for US backers, shipping is included. So figure about $9 total is being charged to International backers for 1 deck.Russell wrote:albinodragon wrote:Hey Russell,

I gotta say it... The courts look fantastic for being 'stock'. I really like them.

That is a lovely take on standard courts! Very nice. I wasn't too keen on these but that's very nice.

Still hate the back and the aces...but gorgeous courts
Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
Really like that colour scheme of the courts and the filigree look to the aces/backs. I like the way these guys handle a curlicue, glad to give them my money.

Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
Got a question, was there a reason that the background on the 10 of club is zoomed out? so the cards are 3.5 tall and the background is 4 inches tall so the image can run off or bleed the edge of the card. it seems like the same background was scaled down to 3.75 tall and then cut at 3.5 for this card only. it makes it really easy to find in the deck is this for magic effects?
EDIT
here a re a thousand words to better show the issue. as you can see on all 4 edges there is more boarder on the 10 of clubs then the 10 of hearts. if it was a cutting issue the card would be off center and the boarder would be larger on 1-2 and shorter on the opposite sides.

Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
Is that on all clubs or just the 10? It looks to me like the design was cut asimetricaly because it was so close to the bleed area. Or they just didn't realize that size difference an printed it anywaysDukeBoy wrote:Got a question, was there a reason that the background on the 10 of club is zoomed out? so the cards are 3.5 tall and the background is 4 inches tall so the image can run off or bleed the edge of the card. it seems like the same background was scaled down to 3.75 tall and then cut at 3.5 for this card only. it makes it really easy to find in the deck is this for magic effects?

Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
In that case it's a slip on the quality check of the cards, lets see if other people catch that. I haven't got my deck yet, so as soon as I do, ill let you know if I have same issue.

Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
Well it is a quality check issue but is not on USPCC. It is a QC on the proof sheet that Elite got, this should be an issue with all decks that were printed with the same plates that printed my deck, which should be the same as all the other plates that were used to run the job but I'm willing give in to that point. I made a comment on the KS page and the designer said that all the art work is perfect and it is a cutting issue. I'm in printing and this is not a finishing/cutting issue. If it were the card would be off center, shifted to the left or right, top or bottom or some combination. The ten of clubs is centered and the background is extended on all 4 sides. Elite said "If you find it disturbing let us know and we can refund you." The only thing that is disturbing is the fact they are not seeing the same issue, or unwilling to admit there is an issue.

Re: Bicycle Divine by Elite Playing Cards - Live on Kickstar
I agree with all of the above, the difference is very obvious and your right it doesn't seem like a cutting issue. But the denial part would obviously be there, as they don't want to admit to something that might hurt the sales. But from moral point of view, all they have to do is apologies and maybe look into it, and inform buyers of that issue. To a lot of people it's a very small problem, that wouldn't hurt sales, but they would appreciate knowing the fact when buying it.DukeBoy wrote: If it were the card would be off center, shifted to the left or right, top or bottom or some combination. As far as replacing the deck, I would say keep it. By replacing the deck, they only want to hide it from public. I would wait and see if others have the same issue, and if they do, then it's just a slight QC problem that I think can be looked passed.
Thank you
