Unread post by alvinhy »

Here is our latest project WWII Warships Playing Cards.
I've decided to launch on D-Day to commemorate all the fallen heroes.

Pledged! I like these, even though the back border color doesn't match the front. Nice commemorative deck. Thought it was RJ at first when I saw the thread title lol

Just the courts though they're custom, they look the same but I understand why. Everything looks great and those are the best looking tshirts I've seen on any campaign since I'm a blue guy.

Really liking these decks, but I think the US deck has a bit too much empty space on the back. I've put it as a remind me for now, to see how it pans out.

Thanks for the support!

I tried to do different style courts for two decks but essentially they are from the same side (Allied Forces).
Ill have a totally different design for the Axis Forces.

But we will see how this project goes!

I like the UK tuck better than the US.

Alvin, awesome project!

I noticed that you have tiers with a pair of decks (standard or collectors) and a pair of coins, which is about 15-16 GBP more than the standard or collectors set...would it be possible to add on the pair of coins for 15-16 GBP as an add on instead of 10 each? Or maybe offer a tier with a pair of both Standard and Collectors as well as a pair of coins?
A deck a day helps keep the addiction at bay!

So what has happened to this? There has been a total of zero updates for the entire project and it's supposed to have been completed this month. Another creator down the tube I guess. :x

I messaged him on FB and he gave the same response about not being to access KS in China. But is there some reason he can't post an update here? I think not.

FINALLY an update:
First of all I would like to personally apologise for the lack of updates regarding this project. There was some major time issue management (all my fault), due to personal family issues. This lead to me having to fly out of UK, and travel between cities in China.
As of now, I am back in the UK and will get this project going ASAP.
Here is where the project is at. The design has been completed and will liaise with LPCC to get all the printing done as soon as possible.
I will be counting the remaining stock for the previous projects and will put them as add ons during the survey using Backerkit. The surveys will be sent around the end of the week and once LPCC completes developing the decks, it will be fulfilled by them.

Simple version:
Send surveys to find out your add ons
LPCC starts printing depending on how many decks
LPCC ships decks once all printed

An update and nothing since. I don't understand why this keeps happening. Makes me wonder who I can trust on Kickstarter anymore!

Yet another KS project that won't come to fruition:
Dear Backers,
As many of you may noticed that the project has been halted. I personally apologise to those who were looking forward to this product.
A lot of unexpected things have occurred in my life and I found myself without any time to continue working on this project. I know a lot of you are disappointed with the lack of updates. I apologise for that, it is because the email domain ended for my account and I was not receiving updates.
What will happen now?
Please don't worry as none of the funds have been moved since the project ended. I will be refunding your pledges through Kickstarter one by one.
Again, I would like to apologise as I have probably disappointed a lot of you. For those who wanted this design, I would probably fund the deck myself and print out a batch for sale directly instead of going through Kickstarter. So I hope you do look forward to it in the future when it is for sale online.
Kind Regards,
Alvin

He set aside the money and didn't touch it until getting to the project, so now that he can't get to the project, he can refund the money. THAT is the mark of a stand-up guy.

When there have been issues with his campaigns in the past (there was a problem with coins I seem to recall), he took full responsibility and fixed the problem. No muss, no fuss to the backers.

It's unfortunate he has to put this project on hold for now, but kudos to him for being a stand-up guy. His stock just went up, as far as I'm concerned.

What I wonder about, though, is - do Kickstarter still take their percentage in these cases?

I'm going to disagree. If he was such a stand up guy then he wouldn't have sat on this for half a year with barely any updates and no responses to comments and messages. Also still haven't seen a refund.

I'm sure Kickstarter took their percentage because it funded, regardless if he didn't touch the money.

Well, then - does he reimburse the backers their pledge amount minus the percentage? Or pay the percentage out of his own pocket?

Not that I would expect one or the other, just curious.

When Concept Grafix sent refunds for the Bicycle Imperium project, he sent it such that Paypal took out a cut for the transaction from the recipient rather than from the sender. But, that said, he didn't take out Kickstarter fees from the amount he refunded before scheduling the Paypal payment, so there's that.

Whether he sends it and pays all the fees himself or lets Paypal take the fees from the recipients or whatever, I'd say that a mostly full reimbursement is still miles ahead of the Adam Clarksons of this world.

I don't know anything about this creator or project, that said, I'd have to guess that if a "ask me for a refund" strategy is in place, then the people who don't ask for a refund (because they don't know or forgot) are going to cover the kickstarter cut.
