Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
I really like everything about this deck (especially the courts) except the price. $13 for an LPCC deck with a non bells and whistles tuck? As much as I like it I have to mull it over.

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Similar here, but that does include US shipping so it's actually not a horrible price. I also really love the courts and it's very well done. My only issue is having scaled back after a few years of collecting I'm looking for very specific themes that are unique and interesting to me. A few years ago this would have been a must buy for me, but now I'm not so sure.vasta41 wrote:I really like everything about this deck (especially the courts) except the price. $13 for an LPCC deck with a non bells and whistles tuck? Don't get me wrong though, this is excellent work and it stands a good chance of funding. There's just been a lot more options recently so if you can change your stretch goal to instead be already included and then instead have a different 2nd improvement that may be ideal. The only thing is adding foil or something to a cartoony/fun tuck seems just silly...
Good luck!

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Thanks y'all. I'm happy to hear my design stands a chance out there!
Like you mention ecNate, the price includes shipping and I really couldn't drop it much more. Just to be totally transparent, to ship one deck of cards with Gambler's Warehouse is going to cost just shy of $5. To do it myself would save about a buck and create more risk in my opinion (since I'm not a dedicated fulfillment company). So I'm really charging $8 for each deck. Throw in kickstarter fees and initial shipping costs from the printer and any margin is virtually gone.
No doubt about it, backing for multiple decks is the best way to do it, since shipping doesn't go up as quickly.
Do you think I should switch my pricing to exclude shipping? If people just look at it quickly, they may not see that it is a flat rate and the number could turn ppl off. I liked the flat rate because it feels more honest to me.

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
It will be +$2 for a single deck shipped internationally, +$4 for two decks, and so on as you add more on.
The non-deck rewards like art prints and uncut sheets have larger increases for shipping international.

Now that I know you've incorporated shipping that way I will be in on these! Even though I live in the US I like when creates can accommodate international shipping as best they can. And those seem like good rates I think.Gwafio wrote:It will be +$2 for a single deck shipped internationally, +$4 for two decks, and so on as you add more on.

I like it, I'll be there. Have a time picked out, noon EST, for example? I did click the "Notify Me" to be emailed.
Move on, nothing to see here.

I'll definitely be picking up a couple, and ... might even pick up an art print which I've never done before.
I'm hoping the court will take up more of the canvas to show off more of your work.
Either way, I'm looking forward to this project. Godspeed.
For your art prints, I notice the sample image has a fairly big margin around the image of the King, is that the final image?

Any chance you would consider expanding the backs to make a full bleed?

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Glad to have everybody aboard!
I was planning to launch late morning on Friday so lets just make it official for 12 noon on Feb. 10 (thats Central Time, so I guess 1:00pm Eastern).
Yes, the art print is subject to change, I'd like to enlarge them a bit and add the "Royal Lines" name beneath the court, I'll put out an update when it goes live.
As for the back, I considered a full bleed, but after trying it out, I thought it just didn't balance as well with the card fronts. The fronts are a pretty light-hearted and colorful design and the full bleed just made the back a little too dressed up compared to the fronts IMO. I've also heard horror stories about registration errors and the like with full bleed backs. Seeing as this is my first venture into kickstarter and large run printing, I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted. I hope you are still in for the current design!

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
I don't really go for too many decks printed by Legends, but I'll be in for this. I tend to like more colorful decks, and I appreciate the full customization of this deck. With a back pattern like this one, I too, would prefer a full-bleed back. The pattern is uniform and relatively simple, so any issues with registration should be minimized. And if Legends is contracting with the Taiwanese printer, their registration is usually near perfect. But if you feel a full bleed back clashes stylistically with your design, I can respect that.
My only nitpick would be the blue Joker. With all due respect, it looks like you just phoned that one in. I don't see how it fits in thematically with the rest of the Royal Lines deck. Maybe a subtle variation of the red Joker in blue would be better without having to do too much additional work from scratch. That minor critique aside, from what I see so far, my guess is that you should easily fund, especially if you market and promote this deck properly. I would strongly recommend foiling on the tuck as an additional stretch goal, this will surely help you attract those pure collectors who don't open their tuck boxes. Good luck with your deck and I look forward to pledging on Friday.

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Just took a closer look at the cards. The Suicide King convinced me. I'm in.
Edit: But, as is so often the case, I agree with sinjin7: that blue joker is terrible. Any chance we can get an upgrade on that one?

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
I'm suprised RichK didn't pile on this joker thing since he was the first to call me out on my jokers over in the drafting thread.
Fiiiine, I'll get another joker made, y'all can have it your way.
I'll work up a "royal tabby cat" that will be similar to the dog on the red joker. I'll post it here first and take a vote on if the cat or just a copy of the dog should be the new blue joker. Probably won't post til after the kickoff so I'll put it out as an update during the campaign.

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Ok everybody here is a new rendition of the jokers with a cat and dog, I'm leaving the fate of the jokers to this community by way of vote. I'll put this issue to rest over the weekend and update the kickstarter with the decision:
Option one: The cat is a big improvement, One of each joker goes into the deck.
Option Two: The cat is worse then the previous joker, just do two dogs you hack!

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Also, I've crunched some numbers and can get the embossing stretch goal down towards the basic funding goal and will add foil on the tuck as a further stretch goal. Thanks for the suggestions on that, I'm hopeful that we can really beautify this tuck with a successful campaign.

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
I'm fine with either, but I do feel that the style of the cat doesn't quite match the style of the dog (mainly the head).
The cat head looks more like a cartoon drawing, and the dog head looks like a stylized "Shadow of the Colossus" type animal.

I like the new cat Joker, but still think that the JoH shield is too plain and stands out too much...it automatically draws my eye to it...am I the only one or does anyone else see it...if you didn't, I bet you do now

Re: Royal Lines, KS on Feb 10
Option 1. The new jokers are a big improvement.
I followed this deck in the Custom Deck Drafting Board, and I'm still not a big fan of the tuck or the back design, but I wasn't a fan of the jokers, and you've made an improvement there. I really like the court cards and they would go over well in a card game. You got me for 2, maybe more decks! Well done on your improved execution and a pretty nice deck.

Royal Lines is now live!! Thanks to everybody for the feedback, I'll make this community aware of any changes as we move forward.
If you are backing the deck one great way to help is sharing it on social media. I'm going everywhere I know to promote this thing, and if you are able to give it a share somewhere I'd be very grateful.
