While Michael Scott's Repro decks aren't really in my collection wheelhouse I gotta say I love that he does these and really appreciate the time and work he puts into them, they consistantly look great and he always does a good job with the different versions and perks, I especially like the custom wrapping and stamping. Nothing but love for his projects even if they aren't what I collect.

Agree, I like being able to get quality reproductions of rare (expensive old decks) at modern deck prices. In this case even a bargain for any deck. I don't care for the multiple options, but I guess it's nice to have options to pick from! I got a single standard deck for $8 shipped, can't refuse that. I didn't care for some of his earlier ones, but got the Mauger and especially the Murphy Varnish. Hope he keeps this going for a long time.

I agree about the multiple options, if you are going to reproduce the deck then reproduce it, not 3 or 4 versions that never existed to begin with. But that's just me.

Well looks like this one isn't going to happen sadly, too many options I guess. If they had to 1 deck it would have funded surely.

I love the remakes this company produces but I would be much more apt to pledge MORE money on ONE campaign that offered say 4 different re-made decks than LESS money on FOUR separate campaigns spread out over a span of years. Basically I'm saying I like the approach that T11 took with the Heritage series. Now I know a 4-deck campaign is more risky than a 1 deck campaign but I personally would love to see 4 decks remade at once. Call me an impatient American :ugdance:

Surprise, it funded! Very glad, though we missed the metal plates. I didn't go for the weathered deck, a little out of my price range. But I like the theme and hope to see more.

Yeah some last minute miracle. Glad it funded but it seems unethical, it's like the Bucks funding their own Deckstarters, to have someone jump in last minute like that.

Anyway 3-4 different decks would be better than 3-4 different versions of the same deck.

Isn't it truly amazing when a campaign has a negative funding for the last ten days to suddenly find a single backer with $5000 to spare so they get to keep everybody's money? (especially when - if you look at the details, on that last day there was a $3700 net influx of cash but curiously there were two less backers than there were the day it was going to all go down the tubes?

Yes it is curious. Mike you may be able to help with this but how do KS projects deal with retailers? Does the retailer place an order directly or do they use the KS?

There's no such thing as retailers on KS! What must happen is that retailers contact the creator and they arrange their own terms, I suppose that if the campaign is running short creators try to convince retailers to back the project with some substantial value, if the project is running well, maybe they deal outside KS, avoiding paying fees and thus reducing the price for retailers, but that's the way I see it, I may be completely wrong!

I asked Michael how the project funded at the last moment. His non-response response:

Andrea, thanks to generous backers that wanted to see these deck get made. Thank you of your continued support we sure appreciate it. :)

You never have resellers back the project, since it's a low margin way to sell extra decks, but if you were to allow that, between KS & Stripe they take 10% of the money on top of the sweetheart deal you would have to make to begin with. You'd be way past the point where you were paying them to back the project, ending up with less money (and decks). Absolutely not possible that it's how they managed to get 25% of the money they needed total in the last six hours after a net negative funding for 10 to 14 days. Check out http://kicktraq.com for details on how this project went backwards for two weeks, only to find $5000 in the last few hours? It's fraudulent no matter how you look at it, they obviously used one of their 3 (or more) accounts to fund it.

The biggest buggery here is that because of the "last 24 hours can't unfund" rule on Kickstarter, anyone who wanted to take their money out was unable to do so. (if a project is funded, you can't reduce or cancel your pledge during the final 24 hours if it would leave the campaign unfunded)

Well I received my single Standard deck today. http://www.portfolio52.com/node/695504

I haven't opened it since busy with work and also not sure what I'll do with mine, but I found it curious to see it was printed by "Freedom Playing Card Company" and made in China. Anybody know more? The only prior reference I saw was in the campaign where it said "we will be using the same printer we used on the weathered decks for the Murphy campaign and the Replicas for the Mauger Campaign." All I have beyond that is assumptions and minimal details, here is what I added on P52 to start:

Apparently a new and/or little known printer in China, perhaps a front end office that contracts out with an unnamed printer based in China. Possibly even a new venture for Michael Scott, the creator of the replica decks and others from Home Run Games.

NOTE - This appears to be a new company with printer based in China and NOT the Freedom Playing Card Company originally based in Chicago and Huntington, Ind that moved to Lafayette, Indianna (near Indianapolis) in 1919.

That's incredibly disappointing about the printer. I guess I should have read the fine print, but I assumed USPCC like the previous decks. I guess there were exceptions I didn't notice as I didn't open all varieties.

If anybody else has these decks, I would appreciate scans of the non-standard decks so I can add to P52.

FYI - Michael responded on the printing question: Yes, it is a printing conglomerate that we have been working on to print specialty decks. It is difficult to put together all of the intricate details associated with our vintage restoration decks from special tucks, paper wraps, square corners to stamp seals. So we are putting together what we have learned to make it easier for us and others trying to print limited runs in the future.

I just received these Decks (Standard & Original)

I decided to get the Original Version as they have different backs.

Well the look and art are wonderfully recreated, abeit No need for two back designs.
I enjoy All Home Run Games Restorations,
However the Stock and Finish of these cards are pure crap, Initially I thought this would be printed by USPCC.

Cards do not fan, Cards feel really thick, yet flimsy. They Do pharo atleast (one side)
Package, box, all very nice, but really quality of the cards itself is pretty bad. I think this is the new direction of Home Run Games.
Wonder if USPCC is just too expensive. Never thought even JRobinson will be printing with someone other than USPCC.

Overall, I do not regret getting them, The recreation alone is worth it
but I think they should have just released one back design (THE ORIGINAL) as their standard, maybe just cash grab for us completists.

Shady stuff at best, really. I never heard of them, at least not except for the original US-based "Freedom PCC", and I have backed earlier restorations by HRG.

There were previous signs that they were up to something juggling the accounts and send and then combining shipping included.

Hmmm...

Not shady in my opinion, sometimes we just don't read the whole page. No mention of USPC at all in the campaign, yet at the bottom of the campaign page we see this.

Oh, I saw that, actually. Just saying that we have caught them running multiple simultaneous campaigns before, three before fulfilling the first. It was before we knew that they used three different accounts.

I don't remember Mike's partner in HRG name, but his Mike's & HRG all had unfulfilled projects at one time.
