Most recent update shows the Legacy box for the set. I'm honestly a little disappointed with it, I thought each deck was going to be boxed to match the Tally-Ho's and Texas legacy boxes =( It's beautiful, but I wanted the sets to all match each other

You read the update wrong, that image is only to show how the engraved coin will look in the Legacy Boxes, just as an example.
the legacy boxes will be like his Tally-Ho's and Texas, but with an engraved coin.

Correct, the Legacy set will look more or less like they do in the first images, but with the coin inlay and possibly minor changes to the label and its position if that is needed. Otherwise nothing changes. :)

Thanks Marcus, I was not quite understanding the update. Will there be an option to get them without the coin inlay?

So this Kickstarter campaign has ended now, but what's the final word on the foiling on the backs of the cards and the holographic strip on the courts (I guess this only applies to the US currency deck)? It was discussed at length and Jackson said he was experimenting, but I don't recall ever hearing that the foil or actual holographic strip was for sure going to be on the cards. I know Jackson likes to pull the whole, "How dare you guys question me?" bit and ultimately come up with the goods, but I got past my misgivings about these printing in Taiwan and the high price specifically for the foiling and holograph, so it might be nice to hear word on whether and how these elements will be incorporated....

Both holographic foil and regular foil will be used. As to how it will be used I can't answer just yet as Jackson is still working on the designs.

That ship has sailed, I think Jackson already opted for the more playable design (and rightly so).

I have high expectations for these decks. Please take the time to do them right. I'm happy this is a non-USPCC deck. I think that's already an improvement.

Well this sucks:
Unfortunately, we have been running into some issues with the holographic foiling on the US deck that is causing the cards to be marked more than I want. (Marked means that you can see an impression, from the foil from the back side of the card, enabling people that know about it to tell which card it is simply by looking at the back of the card. Because the foiling is only on three cards (KoS, QoS, JoS), it is proving to be a small detail that is really not worth the trouble it is causing. I really have been striving for this deck to be top notch and made the decision to take that element out. Sadly because of this delay, the cards will not be ready for fulfillment this month as initially estimated.
Jackson mentions that this is a small detail but personally that holographic foiling was an enormous reason I backed this project. Now, not only is this project late (which actually isn't that big of a deal to me because I know Jackson will deliver), but this also marks yet another KWP project where what was advertised won't be what's delivered. And I know it's coming:
"We tried to make the best decision for everyone"
"You can have your money back if you'd like"

I don't want my money back. And the best decision for everyone would have been to get it right, like Lotrek. After all, didn't Jackson print this deck with EPCC because "Jackson decided to go with EPCC for this project for a few different reasons, one being that we hope to do something with this project that USPCC simply can't do technically" (quoting Marcus)?? I'm sure USPCC could have foiled the backs so what was the real reason? Profit? I'm not sure but I am sure his margins are even higher without the cost of foiling, even though I know it wasn't his intent.

If Jackson's artwork weren't so amazing this would be the last KS project I back. I just can't bring myself to boycott his work but I will be very weary the next time he launches a KS project. As should everyone else.

Why wasn't the holographic foil tried on sample sheet before saying it'd be used? We all got psyched by the LUXX Greielle(sp?) test back, can't these printing companies do a test card front and back so Jackson and other creators can know what's going to work or not? :(
Move on, nothing to see here.

I agree. Maybe I was a bit harsh because if I didn't know about the foil I wouldn't have wanted it so badly. So if this was properly tested ahead of time, Jackson would have realized it was not possible and never teased it. But as it stands now there is some major disappointment with this news, at least on my end.

I agree, but Jackson, while being an amazing graphic designer is still pretty green to production, he has really only been producing this medium for what? A couple years, I'm sure he still has many more mistakes to learn from, as anyone that is still learning how to do something would. I think this is one of those lessons, something akin to what you guys are saying about testing a production process before promising it. And just like Lotrek with the rare stock on his new deck, he made a promise that he isn't able to deliver on but ideally will know better next time.

I am also incredibly disappointed and I know he will offer a refund for people who are not satisfied (I suspect resale will still make you money off these though, if you don't want to keep them) but I also understand the excitement at the new design element, and the feeling of losing something you were excited about that undermines the offer that 'this is still a cool, normal, deck of cards'.
I think Jackson will continue to improve and will make less mistakes as he gets more familiar with production and experimentation in the years to come. I do hope to see less mistakes and more pre-proofing design choices before committing to them moving forward though.

What did these decks go for on KS, like $16.00 or $17.00 shipped? Normally I rarely will pay that much for an EPCC deck (remember back in the day when they were touted as the cheaper, faster, superior alternative to the USPCC? Oops...), its just not worth it, especially when you factor in the additional month delay to ship the decks by sea and card stock that warps on you. One of the main reasons I backed this deck was for the holographic foil, so this is pretty tragic news.

We all knew when EPCC/LPCC foils their decks they stamp an impression on the opposite side of the card, This has been discussed at length on various threads here at UC, and it's one of the major drawbacks to foiling on cards made by EPCC/LPCC, whereas MetalLux foiling can be done with no stamping/indentations on the cards. For me, the obvious solution would be to stamp every card with the holographic strip so that all the cards will be consistent and still playable, as opposed to just the court cards being holofoiled and marked and scrapping the holographic strips altogether.

These cards were advertised as having regular foiling on the backs as well, and that should still go forward. I'd like to see how the backs are foiled at least, and hopefully that will alleviate some of the disappointment for not getting the holographic strips on the front. Or maybe even incorporate holographic foiling on the backs so that we'd still get some holographic foil as promised.

Yes, yes, and yes. Well said and thought out, John.

I too am disappointed. Even without the holographic foil, I would have backed, but not in the same quantity that I did. Bummer. After going big on Texas and now this, I have learned my lesson. Next time I will pledge small and if it turns out well, I'll buy aftermarket even though there will be a markup.

This is just another disappointment from KWP. I understand that sometimes things don't work out, but it's becoming a consistent problem with KWP where there is some ISSUE with every campaign. I'm about to lose my faith in Jackson being able to deliver what he's said he would deliver.

Looking for my "one time" here...

I'm a poker dealer by trade. I work in a small town poker room most of the year by I also deal for the WSOP during the main event series... so you could say a have a bit of experience with the actual real every day use of playing cards and I can say with certainty that I would NEVER use any deck I have ever collected to play any card game where there are hole cards. (Hold'em, stud, Omaha, etc.) paper cards break down way to quickly. ALL professional establishments use plastic cards. CPOAG or KEM and a few others kinds. This year the WSOP used COPAG.

I like many folks here collect cards like to look at, for the art, and for the fun of collecting something unique and rare.

I respect Jacksons decision and I think we all know if he had come back to us with longer delivery times and an unplayable deck the discussions would be similarly negative.

Weather you are a collector, maker, dealer, or player. Paper cards should just be art imo. I might use paper cards in a pinch or for games like solitaire and OFC where cards do not need to be kept a secret. But if I'm wagering I want reliable cards that don't rip or split and are unaffected by liquids.

Maybe some of these artists could produce some unique plastic decks for a change. I'm told it's hard to print the details onto plastic cards but that doesn't mean we can't come up with some unique designs for plastic!

This was WSOP's new design for the main event this year! Made by COPAG

While I believe plastic cards have their use in the world, for the main purposes of this forum, cards should be printed on paper. Period.

Right this forum is not about gambling and playing games... it's about card art... Folks collect cards for there uniqueness not playability. Most of us don't even open them. And those that do look at them. Collecting art decks and playing with them are two different things. Plastic cards were created to replace paper cards because paper cards are not reliable. If we were collecting cards for their playability we would not be collecting paper cards. No disrespect either way just my opinion on the topic.

I'm just hoping that one of these projects some time soon we'll be delivered as described and on time.... I feel like it's been a while since that has happened for Jackson. I'll continue to support his art because I know it's never with ill intentions that his projects are late and have hiccups. But it sure is frustrating for all involved.
