Greetings from Québec!

Unread post by Blaustein »

Hi, I'm Léandre, from Rivière-du-Loup / Québec / Canada.

I studied arts, letters and communications for quite some time, and I also have a degree in philosophy. I suppose that's a bit far from the usual pedigree, but I'm also slowly but surely working on a card deck design - maybe I'll releases something in the coming years, who knows?

I've recently introduced myself to cardistry (and a bit to card magic), and it didn't take long before finding out about the amazing world of playing cards (which I already knew a bit of, but I clearly didn't suspected its insane richness).

Decks like Killer Bees and the Prohibition set are what got me really excited about collectionning cards, and right now I'm pillaging the Internet for more mind-blowing decks such as Steve Minty's Osiris/Anubis, or Wylie Beckert's Wicked Kingdom. I'm mainly doing cardistry as a hobby, I really like the constant practice part, particularly since I am currently working as a lifeguard while homeschooling myself intensely on video game design, I have countless hours to waste in endless repetition - and we all know how the results are so worth it.

So, that's pretty much it. Hope you have a good day!

Hey brother ....
I think I shall call you Capability, after the talented logistics genius and famed 17th century Landscape Gardener, Capability Brown.
As for playing cards, I have but one name to tell you of ....
Lotrek.
All you need to know.
Heheheh.
So Welcome, Blaustein .... is that :? The Wolf Coast .... ?
O, I beg of you your comprehensions,
yet laugh at your contempts ....
my only competition is with myselves.

But Lèse-majesté, especially >Normans, natch.

Is jarnstill the Ars of the Hors Nebulous ?
Neigh .... the Effluxor of the Omniverse ??

Then I shall now be Brown. Capability Brown.

I just checked Lotrek's works, and you're right, he's excellent. His Grotesk Macabre deck is really impressive.
As for the name Blaustein, it doesn' really holds any specific meaning. I used it randomly a while ago when I learned that it means "blue mountain", and somehow it stuck. Now I'm too lazy to find something new :P

No-no ....
Blaustein is fine ....
The capability was just a reference, not meant to use .... it is a little pretentious if taken for yourself. I'm certain Mr Brown did not say 'Hi, I'm Capability ....' !
I thought Blue-Stone/Mountain carried nicely.
Stay with the stone ....
Lotrek is such a driven person that he has recently lost health. He is very commited/busy .... not easy to contact/distract now.
Just saying ....
Best ....
