Re: Fully-Custom ANCIENT ROME Deck
As far as roman numerals go, I wanna suggest trying putting them in the opposite corner from the normal numbers (lefty fan would show them), in small red or black font. Hiding them in the map is really cool for those of us who know its there but I think it will be missed by most.

Re: Fully-Custom ANCIENT ROME Deck
@JuFiN - I definitely want to keep the Roman Numerals subtle within the Map. They'll be like an easter egg to those that notice them. I'll also do a schematic / diagram of the different elements in the Face Card designs, on the KS project page (probably 1 Number Card and 1 Court Card).
Last night I finished up the ninth Court Card - Livia Drusilla!
Livia was the wife of Augustus, and the mother of Tiberius (Rome's second Emperor).
Here's a link to a higher res version: http://www.midnightcardcompany.com/ROMEQueenHeartHR.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
thanks, Randy

Uhuh, the acceptability of it, when there should be Capital Q questioning of the entire concept (whatever it be) ....
I've a friend in North Queensland who 'goes right orf' when hearing that, and he's onto it, it should be questioned itself, just on principle.
Hehe.
Back.

Re: Fully-Custom ANCIENT ROME Deck
Yep, I forgot to add Livia's thumb!!
I have it on my to do list, along with some other minor changes to Livia and a couple other finished Courts.
I'll get her fixed up before launch, for sure.
Last night I finished the Back Card for the ROME Caesar Deck. I've been working on it for a very long time, and I hope it shows. It's definitely my most unique Back Card yet!
Here's a higher res of the Back Card: http://www.midnightcardcompany.com/ROMA ... esarHR.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
thanks, Randy

Re: Fully-Custom ANCIENT ROME Deck
I wonder where that back design was inspires from..
I absolutelt love it Randy!! I'm surprised you didn't just go with the a Roman shield which already has kind of the shape of a card. I have two suggestions just for fun, is there a way of changing the date to a more Roman versión? Or at least write march in latín and 15 in Roman numerals, just get more into the Rome feel. Also i'm excited to see what the jokers will look like, but I'd suggest Roman standards since these were so highly valued at the time, that getting them back from an enemy was considered a great feat.

Yep, "The Death of Julius Caesar" is one of my favorites. I thought my interpretation of it would look great on Caesar's Back Card. Antony's Back Card will be inspired by another painting in Public Domain - "Cleopatra Captured by Roman Soldiers after the Death of Mark Antony" by Bernard Duvivier. I wanted both Back Cards to focus on the Tuck "characters" deaths.
I'll think over the idea of changing the dates on the Back Cards to latin and roman numerals. I do have some Latin on both Tuck Box top panels, so I don't want to go overboard with it.
The Jokers will be full body statue drawings - one of Caesar, one of Augustus.
Attached are images of the Antony Back Card inspiration and the top panels of the 2 Tucks.
thanks, Randy

Re: Fully-Custom ANCIENT ROME Deck
The way I was thinking of it is like is this deck a movie or a documentary? So elements from the time, like roman numerals and latin phrases would make it more like a movie (think gladiator), while stuff in english makes it more like a documentary (think history channel). I don't know if that makes sense, so to me it would be more like a deck romans would have played with (I know they didn't actually have these) rather than a modern day themed deck. What I'm trying to say is I'd love it even more the more latin stuff you throw in there, and if you made a special edition with roman numerals I'd be in all the way as well. I think your history of rome fans would also appreciate less english and more latin so they can go: *puts on spectacles* "this is latin, it means: damnit Brutus, why you kill me?" when they show it to people.
Okay, started rambling a bit... your deck designs are beautiful and you've made some pretty awesome choices so far!

Hey Pablo, I'll think over the possibility of adding more Latin to the Cards. I thought about doing a special edition with Roman Numberal indices, but there's 2 reasons I decided against it - (1) It would drastically hurt the playability of that Deck, and (2) It would look off to have the Aces through Tens with Roman Numerals, and then J, Q, K for the Courts.
Another reason is I didn't want to do a special edition Deck for this project. The Toga Sleeves will be the Limited item for the campaign. I just received physical proofs of them from Legends last week. They turned out great!
Last night I finished up the tenth Court - Agrippa's Jack of Hearts! I'll be focusing on Antony's Back Card and the two Jokers in August, and then finishing up the last 2 Courts and setting up the Kickstarter project page in September. It looks like an early October launch is within reach!

Toga sleeves???
Yeah, the Toga Sleeves fit perfectly on the Tucks (similar to an old Nintendo game sleeve).
A big reason I did the Tucks so early on is because Lawrence offered to get the physical proofs going.
So, the post-funding should go quicker than usual (hopefully). I'll still put the delivery ETA as Feb. 2017, just in case.
Here's a couple quick iPad shots of Antony's Toga Sleeve flat. Both Toga Sleeves have Gold Foil and a subtle background texture image. I'll take some nice photos for the KS project page in September.
thanks, Randy

Yep, the breastplate has a bunch of figures on it. I simplified them quite a bit, to account for the small printing size of the chest.

When I was adding the Eagle, I didn't worry about the Eagle bleeding into the side edge - since it's just a Joker.
But now that I think about it, there are some games that use the Jokers. I just fixed it where the Eagle is faded out before it gets to the side edge.
Thanks for pointing it out!!!!
