MJF - Wow! With that "price" on the laser Aurums, the value of my collection just went up exponentially!
Makes me think of the Storage Wars shows. Crappy end table, missing a leg, bad finish..."We'll get $350 for it in the store"!

I don't know what this deck is actually worth, but I sure wouldn't pay this for it:

Where the hell do people get money like this. I love my cards but I could think of better ways to drop that kind of cash. Like sink even more cash into my Cadillac.

Re: eBay auctions posted by people on crack
I have known a few playing card collectors who wouldn't even blink at sinking that much into a rare enough deck deck that they really wanted.
I knew one rich guy who, back when eBay was pretty new, would bid $500 or $1,000 for any deck he really wanted, thus insuring he was almost always the high bidder without his having to keep an eye on the item.
He finally stopped this practice after this happened:
1. He bid something outlandish (I think it was $1000) on some deck worth maybe $20 or $30.
His was the first bid, and he was shown as the high bidder at whatever the minimum bid was - $10 or so.
2. Some others bidded, but nothing near his Max bid, so he kept being listed as the Highest bidder, at a dollar more than the last person's Highest bid.
3. He was the Highest bidder at around $31 when a woman tried to put in a bid of $40 but mistyped it as $400, .
His was still the Highest bid, at $401 - for a $20/$30 deck!
4. The woman panicked, thinking that she might have to purchase the item for $400 if the high bidder backed out, so she contacted eBay with her concern.
eBay contacted Mr. Rich Guy, and he decided to change his bidding strategy from then on.
A mutual friend met the guy, and said told me that he had a filing cabinet full of the duplicates from his collection, and those dupes alone would rival just about any museum collection in the USA.
Must be nice!

Re: eBay auctions posted by people on crack
it is confusing when the ace reads "limited", but the nature of this limited is: as many as they can sell.

Are you talking about the seller or the bidder?JPMiddleton wrote: and yes, she hasn't made a mistake! I sent her a message and she believes the Blue LTD is rare and limited.

I am led to believe that the deck is called Limited due to the simplistic nature of its design.DukeBoy wrote:it is confusing when the ace reads "limited", but the nature of this limited is: as many as they can sell.

So, "Limited" refers to the imagination and creativity of the designer(s)?agera94 wrote:I am led to believe that the deck is called Limited due to the simplistic nature of its design.DukeBoy wrote:it is confusing when the ace reads "limited", but the nature of this limited is: as many as they can sell.

I hate people who lists opened decks with the condition "New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item".CBJ wrote:This makes no sense to me at all....

Personally I think the people just selling the standard deck for about what they sell for in stores are on crack.

Re: eBay auctions posted by people on crack
I was trying to be kind, Evan. But yes, I noticed that, too. But would it have been any crazier to list it for 2.1998 than it was to list it for 219.98?
Or maybe they were trying to say that the deck was printed in February of 1998?
Yeah, that's the ticket!
ETA: I just messaged the seller and asked "Is the price a typo, or is there a reason why someone would pay $219.98 for a deck they could buy in any drug store for around $3?"
I will report back here if I get an answer.

Re: eBay auctions posted by people on crack
It just occurred to me:
On some forum somewhere, items like these are probably listed when they sell, in a thread/topic titled "eBay auctions bought by people on crack"

Re: eBay auctions posted by people on crack
Not to sound self-pitying, but some of these are listed because there are people like me, who for any number of reasons, cannot get out and go to a drug store, supermarket or toy store.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:Why would I wait a week for something that I could just walk into ANY drugstore, super market or toy store and just buy off the shelf?
And some of us are too smurfing lazy to comb through the web for the best price for something, and so we just search eBay for it, and will buy it there if the price is reasonable.
...and because using PayPal is quick and easy.
I'm just sayin'.

Totally true, I guess my thought would always be AMAZON first. At least that way you know the shipper and it's fast and many times is FREE delivery. And AMAZON ships globally. But you can't use PAYPAL on AMAZON.... curses!
