Hope everything around you guys super.

It's been nearly over a year since we last released anything new on Coterie, this is mainly because we've had too many other projects that have been keeping us busy.

We did, however, share our know how with TAA: The Ace Assembly, which is a group of elite Hong Kong magicians for this new release

The TAA Playing Cards - Poetry of Conjuring.

This is a limited edition of 1000 decks, printed in Taiwan, same texture and feel akin to Empire Keeper Playing Cards.

Designed by the same artist that brought you The Amour Deck.

When you see advertisement/promotion that does not show the court cards, then that's usually a pretty good indication that you only have standard courts. There isn't any mention of a specific printer that I can see, so it may be EPCC/LPCC, or worse. If that is the case for this deck, then you have a so-so tuck box with minimally customized (only the backs, AoS, and Jokers) cards that's printed by some printer overseas and its going to cost you $18.00 per deck. This is an easy PASS for me...

The reasons why the printer is not mentioned is that, TAA deck, and quite many other decks were made by the same Taiwanese factory,
it's the same factory that a few playing cards companies are currently using, so we wouldn't mention printer's name, until, perhaps one day the printer establishes a name on its own.

I shared quite a bit of my experience and advices to TAA, but, at the end of day, it''s their deck, not ours, so we could only do it the way per they request.

With regard to the customization and design of the deck, of course you are entitled to your opinion, but then we all have different preferences.
I think this is a very decent magician theme deck, while it's not appealing to you, but I am sure there's a demographic for it.

I agree that design is subjective and different people have different tastes. Since UC is now predominantly a forum for collectors (as opposed to cardists and magicians), most members here probably prefer full customization of their decks, especially in light of the exceptional caliber of fully customized decks that are flooding the market now.

My biggest issue with this deck wasn't the design, but pricing. For $18.00 per deck shipped, you should be able to get a deck with fully customized backs, courts, aces, and pips, along with a tuck box with upgraded specialty stock that's embossed, foiled, serially numbered, with interior printing, and possibly even die-cut. Unfortunately, the TAA deck is missing most of these premium features, yet is charging the premium price.

As for the printer, I take it that it's the same printer that LPCC/EPCC uses. I agree with you in wishing this Taiwanese printer establishes a name of its own. I think too many people believe LPCC/EPCC exclusively owns the printer, but the fact of the matter is that anyone can contact that printer directly and utilize their printing factory without having to go through LPCC/EPCC.

I agree on the price, this deck is nice enough on it's own merits, but for that price I expect a premium deck. I can get a deck of Ovdiyenko's Oracle cards for $15 resale, not even pay $2 for shipping and I get "be able to get a deck with fully customized backs, courts, aces, and pips, along with a tuck box with upgraded specialty stock that's embossed, foiled, serially numbered, with interior printing," and even has a custom seal.

One point of concern I have with using a Taiwanese printer not naming it's company is there is no way to know if it is the same printer that these other printers have used, "We are using a Taiwanese Printer" seems a little misleading because the expectation is that they are saying "We are using the same printer as LPCC/EPCC".

Not to mention the tuck clearly says The Red Deck which indicates there will be more, but these aren't worth $18, I don't care if there was only 1000 produced, that's hardly considered limited any more these days.

I agree, but judging by the description it seems to actually be a "collector's item" deck for magicians.

Unless you're a fan of this "Magic Production Team" or are one of those crazy "must have all decks" collectors (surely there aren't any left?), then this is most likely a pass.
