Well, its been a while since the release and it doesn't look like there was an instant sell out on the Luxury Blue Crown decks like we've seen in the past with other "limited" BC decks such as the Black and Gold crown decks. At least they disclosed the print run of 2500 decks for these, so I'll give them credit for that.

I really want to love this company, but their history of releasing sub-par deck designs at premium pricing (not to mention insane shipping costs for those of us who don't buy bricks at a time) really make it not worth my time and effort. I just don't get their pricing scheme.

Sub-par product? Did you really take a good look at the deck?

It's expensive yes, but I guess it cost quite a lot to produce.

Cheers!

Not patronizing TBC after the Altruism/Snow Owls fiasco.

I had to pass on these simply because of the standard shipping rate.
Simular problem back on Halloween this year with the Altruism T-Shirt.
I do not pay $20.95 shipping for one T-Shirt or 1 Deck of Cards.
I feel forced to buy 6 decks to get a acceptable price ratio and i don´t soo many luxury blue crown decks.

I got a few coming. Pretty sure I can beat their shipping rates.
And of course, no jacking up the deck price... for my fellow collectors. ;)

PM me if interested.

I'm not surprised. A limited deck from TBC... I expected it to sell out faster.

I got a care package from The Blue Crown today. The Deck turned out even cooler than I thought it would!! I ordered a Brick on the 26th and it looks like either Kevin or Alex intercepted and added the additional Decks and Uncut. I will definitely tuck away the special editions and a couple standard versions for safe-keeping with my all-time favorite Portfolio pieces.

Thanks, Randy

I didn't HAVE to, I WANTED to order some myself! I've always had a problem accepting with what in my mind qualifies as 'freebies'. I don't know if it's from spending every summer as a kid working on my uncle's farm or growing up in the middle-of-nowhere Michigan, I feel weird accepting something extra - almost on the verge of greedy. I have the same problem with my day job where I work with alcohol brands. If I see a Gift Pack, or any other item I designed, in the store I have no qualms with purchasing it with my own money.

I was compensated very well monetarily for my work on the BC Luxury Deck. When we were going over the project details I asked for a few Decks for myself, knowing that I could always order some when they launched. They sent a lot more than a few Decks!

When the ORNATES came out I had a similar problem. I felt almost sick to my stomach to accept 72 Decks (36 of each color) at no cost. I think the usual agreement is 144 Decks, but I knew I wouldn't need that many and it would really make me feel bad. Once I got the 72 Decks and started giving them out to family, friends and Poker buddies I realized they were going quickly. So, when the ORNATES launched I ordered an additional Brick of each color so I would have some leftover for myself. Kevin Reylek saw the order come in, cancelled it and sent the additional Bricks at no cost. It's positive personal experiences like this with TBC/HOPC that I think of when I see people on the forums constantly badmouth them!

Thanks, Randy

I see, got it. I'm sure TBC takes care of their own, and they certainly took care of you. Unfortunately, my experience with them hasn't been so positive. I'm not sure its necessarily bad-mouthing them when people point out some of the errors TBC made, and there have been some doozies for sure. I don't recall anyone lying about TBC or spreading false rumors here at UC at least. I just don't know if they'll ever overcome their Gold Crown PR meltdown.

Anyways, its nice to read about some of the nicer deeds a company does behind the scenes, it gives us a different perspective. I got over my reservations about them and actually ordered 6 decks, hopefully that wasn't a mistake.

@ hikeeba:
Was that deck given to you as part of being one of last years Christmas contest winners or did you pay the $350 tier?

@ RandyButterfield:
Did you also design the revised Blue Crown logo and Luxury logo? Or were those designs given to you to incorporate into the crown deck design?

Yep, I designed the revised Blue Crown logo. It was originally part of the first round Ace of Spades design (inside the large spade). They liked the circle lockup so much we switched it to the Joker and they made it the new logo! The alternate version they use on some items, the one with the light blue swirls around the circle logo, comes from one of the later Joker options as well.

Thanks, Randy

Actually, the $400 tier from the blackest of Fridays . Since it''s not a "product" I don't get a freebie for winning the one-of-every-product. :?
($400 tier wasn't tough - brick of gold crown, brick of snow owls and a few porpers.)

Anyways - thrill is gone, so if anyone wants to buy it outright, shoot a bid.
(I'll be posting in the Buy/Sell later on with a bunch of other stuff.)

@ RandyButterfield : That’s awesome Randy. The designs turned out very nice. You do great work. I would have taken a chance on the luxury deck but the price was just too much for me to justify. I know allot goes into the pricing of generally released products, that’s just the way it is. I would have really enjoyed seeing that AOS with the BC logo and an actual joker. I'm sure its a difficult challenge for any designer or company following up on The Crown Deck.
“It's positive personal experiences like this with TBC/HOPC that I think of when I see people on the forums constantly badmouth them!”
@ RandyButterfield : I have had positive personal experiences of TBC also. Some might not know that the way Don Boyer and I have a go at it on the Discourse. Things go further than they should.
“Actually, the $400 tier from the blackest of Fridays . Since it''s not a "product" I don't get a freebie for winning the one-of-every-product. :?”
@ hikeeba: $400, Do you resell or is that all for you? You and I have threaded before about the Gold Crown Deck when the 50 Gift Boxes were released. Did you ever get a FREE Gold Crown after it was released to the public?

I did get one of the 50 (turned it over quickly). I have opened some Gold Crowns (used them to make jumping frogs and do Cannibal).
I'll probably open a luxury to practice my card throwing.

What's the deal with the extra Queen of Hearts in the deck? Are they having a joke at their own expense by referencing the Q of Hearts blunder with the Altruism decks? You would think they would want us to forget all about that......

I think they like this card. NOC decks also have extra queen of Hearts. And that's before the altruism mistake.

The QH is one of the most common "thought of " cards when spectators are given a choice.
Russell

Re: The Luxury Blue Crown Deck

That's true, many men choose it when there is a woman/girlfriend around. Also, its a perfect card to clip in when 'forcing' a spectator to choose a card when flipping through a deck... black black black black RED QUEEN black black...

Slightly off topic, what is that called? The card thing with a bunch of black cards then a bight red queen then more black cards, it almost makes the spectator to choose the queen.
