I may sound a little bitter but I just want to print the best cards and it runbs me the wrong way that I can't.
Interesting fact I didn't know about EPCC, thanks.

Jackson, I'd rather have you print the best cards you want to print, regardless of US or China. If you can't make that deck then don't do it at all. Keep pushing deck creation versus living with something that you know could have had more but doesn't.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Definitely prefer the best deck over USA or non USA made. It's sad that USPCC doesn't resemble the reasons we want to
Shop American (The most options / unparalleled quality) Either way I can't wait to see more!

Your transition looks fine. Surprising simple, but it works. It seems you have graduated from ribbons to cloth. If you're going with no hands or items and just more of a bust appearance. Be weary of the middle looking like a square, rectangle, or any other geological shapes.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but your rank index in your indices is to big. You have to think how many cards can I get in my hand. There is no written rule, but I would guess 10-13 would be what you are aiming for. Your suit index is just the right size. It looks to be slightly smaller than a standard suit indicator, but much larger than a regular suit in the indices. Perhaps if you made the rank of your card that size it would work better.

Can't say that I like the border on the left. It pushes your indices inside the card and that is not what we what to do. Maybe, if you push the indices near the cut border and somehow fade that border behind it just like you did on the top you could increase the number of cards in your hand.

Ohhhh, what are you going to put in the most valuable real estate in the BackOfCard? How about an eye and the start of a pyramid that fades behind the great seal...

I have to agree with Sprouts here about the indices. Too big, like a Jumbo Bicycle index. Personally I prefer small indices, YMMV.

I like almost everything on this one! The only bit I not felling is the way you merged the portrait, seems that something is missing!
Other minor thing is the index, I guess you could put it closer to the border/frame.

I like everything about that back design except for the "all seeing eye". I know Jackson put it in there to reflect our currency, but I always felt US currency has way too much masonic symbolism. . .

A little change up for Sinji7, i'm still working on a center motif for the middle.

I know you can't make everyone happy, but I liked the pyramid, it's an iconic part of our currency, regardless of whether it's steeped in Masonic imagery already or not. I have no doubts I will be happy with whatever direction you go, but the All Seeing Eye is a big part of the image to leave out.

I studied up a bit on Masons and Freemasons, and its a pretty freaky secret society. At lower levels, I guess its just a social status thing, but those higher up are required to take and abide by some pretty hard-core oaths. Its surprising that so many of the founding fathers of America were members, and I guess it was due to their influence that incorporated so much masonic imagery in our currency. I like either version, probably would lean towards the version with the stars instead of the eye.

The original Fed52 decks were some of Jackson's earliest works, and he's developed immensly as a deck designer since then. While the Fed52 decks are great (and the Branded Fed52 and Branded Silver Certificate decks are still among my all-time favorites), there were some areas that could've used some more refinement (Washington's mustache comes to mind ;) ). I'm expecting Legal Tender to reflect Jackson's growth in experience and expertise so that it's an enhanced sequel to the Fed52 series. Given how well the Fed52 series did, I can't wait to see how Legal Tender turns out. It's one of my most anticipated decks.

I would be happy with either version as well but I actually like the all seeing eye better than the stars.

JacksonRobinson wrote:Well I have begun developing the next chapter of my currency themed playing cards. I can't really believe that it has already been three years from the original Federal 52 campaign. I've been developing Legal Tender for a while and many of you will remember two years ago when I even thought and teased launching it. Things didn't come together at that time and I postponed it. Well I have picked it back up again and I wanted to bring you guys along as I develop it.

And before you ask, as I know you are thinking "Wait didn't he just start another thread about a hand engraved deck?" Yes, I did. Intaglio is a project that has been in development and has a way to go. I would get my self in a big creative rut if I was only working on one project at a time.

So far I have a pretty solid concept for the court cards. The direction will be mimicking modern money pretty closely. I'm also experimenting with the indexes and borders a little differently with this deck and making them more integrated into the design. (I'm sure Sprouts will love that ;))

Here are some initial images to give you an idea of where its headed. I would love to hear your comments.

Here is an example of a court card. (I posted this over a year ago on my instagram so some of you may have already seen this)

Here is an image of the back design. I have only started so there are a ton of elements missing.

Same here I would even pay extra $5, that is the reason I didn't get the crazy 8 deck, if it had the Bicycle I would have 100% got it.(I did have the chance to get it I didn't miss out ) would look great with the others if they were in a case, just saying.

BUT it's also a credit to your work that people are willing to pay 2-3 times what it will cost you to do that. I'd like to think you've built your brand (KW) to have a pretty good following as well ;)

I'll back the project, either way.

I tend to prefer the EPCC/LPCC cards, in general, esp. given that they tend to support thinner borders (and allow the creators to add more bling at comparable price points), and I just like the feel better. But, that said, I have no complaints about Bikes, whose quality is certainly consistent and predictable.

I'm curious to know which version (Bicycle vs Unbranded) was more popular in the Fed52 series. Anyone can give their opinions in this thread and it really doesn't prove anything, but the numbers don't lie from the sales of the Fed 52 series. That might give an indication of whether to stay with the USPC or not. Personally, I preferred the Bicycle branded Fed52 decks across the board.

I know the unbranded Reserve Notes command much more value on the resale market, but that might just be to being more limited. I prefer, and will always get where I can, non-bike branded decks, but still prefer USPCC as a printer

I think it gives an indication of whether to print Bicycle branded or not. Unless USPCC physically cannot do what Jackson wants then I don't know why a USA currency themed deck wouldn't be printed in the USA. I'd probably still buy it but I hope this will be USPCC. At least the "unlimited" version anyway.

If the theme was 'keep jobs in the US' or 'american industry' or something along those lines I could see the argument of using a US printer based on theme. If anything it is more american to have it produced in another country to cut costs. Murica!

You know I think it would be just as cool maybe better if you had Kings Wild in exchange of Bicycle on the tuck, I just don't like it blank just seems like something is missing, that is just my opinion, if it said kings wild on the tuck of the Crazy 8 deck I would have gotten it, hey I'm a wired collector I guess.(I don't open many decks I display most of in my cases) But again I will def pick up these branded or not.

Cool deck idea, have Kings Wild on the tuck and have your logo on the tuck, and have dif colors like you did with the Tally Ho decks that would be awesome, I would pick up every color.

I fully support having Kings Wild as the branding, that would be my top pick by far. Good suggestion, Ryan!

Also, while I'm indifferent towards the all-seeing eye, I don't feel like the starry alternative worked very well. And I do feel like removing something that's so traditional on currency "just because it's masonic" is kind of silly.
