Chernobyl Memorial Playing Cards KS
A bit of an odd theme for a deck but nicely done nonetheless by Misery Dev. Though while I have to question having pictures for the aces (in terms of usability), they do make sense for the courts. Being printed by NPCC in Ukraine with a stretch for 2 additional cards and other stretch goals.

Not a bad deck overall. I like the backs and the LE tuck. The pips aren't too bad either but I don't like the 1-way picture courts and aces.

Just realized the backs of the cards actually say Limited Edition and Premium Edition, I think this cheapens the decks a bit as the focal point of these decks should be Chernobyl and the memorial, not if it's a special edition deck. I hope they remove that.

I posted comment about the LE/PE text along with another person hoping it'll be removed or change it to the date and time as better memorial.jerichoholic wrote:Just realized the backs of the cards actually say Limited Edition and Premium Edition, I think this cheapens the decks a bit as the focal point of these decks should be Chernobyl and the memorial, not if it's a special edition deck. Move on, nothing to see here.

Apart from the text on the backs, I think this is a pretty decent deck. Except the courts, they really kill it for me. Took them from collector's items to giftshop status the moment I scrolled to them.

Umm, doesn't this deck seem to be the perfect opportunity for the use of glow-in-the-dark ink?
Is that wrong?

Re: Chernobyl Memorial Playing Cards KS
I totally agree with the comments about the photos slapped onto the cards, it does make it feel like a cheap tourist deck. However, for one being of the most remarkable abandoned places the photos are the most interesting aspect and perhaps the best choice rather than featuring the style and real people from the era on the courts. Given that, I would actually have rather had an entire deck of different photos actually. The LE tuck looks cool and took advantage of making it look rusted and abandoned. While the pips are nice and ornate, what a missed opportunity in not making the pips aged as well instead of ornate! I find the ornate pips extremely out of place here.
At almost $22 shipped for me to get the LE deck, given the opinions above, I'll definitely sit this one out. Too bad, I am an urban explorer on occasion and love abandoned photos, this could have been awesome. Looks like they will easily reach their goal as well, which is great for them, but means they won't have to make adjustments and try again with something better.

I agree with you on the photos, Nate. Going for pictures, they should have rather put them on all the cards, or have regular courts with pictures on the number cards. Courts alone was a poor choice.
