Death Playing Cards by Skymember Presents

Unread post by Skymember Presents »

Hey guys, Finix here from Skymember Presents. I would like to share with you all our very first custom design playing cards "Death" is available now on Indiegogo. Please give us a support and grab it for yourself if you like this deck.

Description:

Once upon a time; we saw a picture on the internet entitled "A Game of Life and Death;" where the God of Life played a game of cards with the God of Death. They played to decide whether the deceased would be going to Heaven or to Hell. They played with a deck of Death Playing Cards; of course! Now you can possess a deck of playing cards inspired by those used only in the afterlife. If they really exist; this is what they would look like.

The Death Playing Cards will be featuring a custom Ace of Spades, custom Jokers, a blank face card, a double face card, a custom tuck box and a seal. Designed by Skymember Presents; these cards will be printed by The United States Playing Card Company(USPCC) in Erlanger; KY; USA. We intend to print a limited quantity of only 2500 units. Once they are sold out; we will never again reprint them.

Get ready to witness the playing cards that will be only used in the afterlife. Welcome to Death Playing Cards.

Looks pretty nice aside from having standard faces. Is there any reason why you chose to go with Indiegogo? Indiegogo doesn't usually do so well in terms of playing card project funding. Kickstarter is preferred by backers. I myself am reluctant to pledge because if it doesn't fund I will still be out money as you would get it right away. Also a lot of people here prefer completely custom decks and you seem to have fairly standard faces. But best of luck anyway.

I agree with jerichoholic about your choice of using Indiegogo instead of Kickstarter. At the very least you should clarify how are you going to produce the deck if the project does not fully fund.

Hello Jerichoholic,

Kickstarter always an ideal platform for crowdfunding. However, we can't launch our deck on Kickstarter due to country limitation. I'm understood your concern regarding the pledge as Indiegogo offering a flexible funding instead or all-or-nothing. If the campaign is not fully funded, we will still go ahead by paying the remaining amount to ensure the deck is successfully delivered. Our distributor Murphy's Magic Supplies is ready to distribute our decks. What we need right now is to get as many order as possible to fulfill the minimum order quantity by USPCC. Lastly thank you for your feedback to the deck. I will forward the feedback to our designer.

Hello NCarter,

As we have mentioned, this deck is inspired by the picture titled "A Game of Life and Death", where god played a game of cards with the god of death to determine whether the human would either go to heaven or hell. Most of the time, the deck which related with death theme is in black color. However, in this deck, we decided to use white instead of black as the theme color. We choose to name it as death as the end, the only remaining is death.

Hello Farmisen,

I believed, your question was answered.

hey sky
emmm, suddenly everyone is going dark theme these days.

I do know the art picture you are talking about, its done by a fellow colleage of mine and the source originated from digital painting community/level up on fb.

I can understand a bit why you used death as a hinder theme in design compared to a more obvious way but I would recommend increase the intensity on the designs and do think about the facecards.

anyways, I comment today because I want to warn you. Do consider not going with bicycle at only 7000 dollars at 10 dollars a pack. its clearly not possible even if indigogo charge a bit less than ks, and the budget is only good enough if you are selling at a store front. uspcc have a 1k min order and that will take away most of your money right off the bat.

But this project as a try and error to test out the water is fine. good luck

Hello Billdragon,

You are wondering why suddenly everyone going dark theme. For this, I have no idea. We started death project about two years ago from concept to sketches to ai to prototype deck to master finally shot the trailer. The quality product takes time to complete. For your feedback on the design, I will forward to our designer. Also, we want to thank you for your gentle reminder for the deck manufacturer. We have a close relationship with USPCC and very understand their pricing. Generally, it's nearly not possible to get the deck to be produced by USPCC at $7000(we will only receive approximately $5950). However, as we mentioned, our distributor partner Murphy's Magic Supplies is prepared to distribute our deck. What this means is they has pre-ordered partial quantities from us. With their support, we can print our deck at 2500 units. Compared with 1000 units, the cost per deck for 2500 units is much lower. Our goal is simple, we want to get our deck in the high quality and with AFFORDABLE pricing. All of us at Skymember Presents working with passion. Therefore, we will pay our own for the remaining amount if our campaign is not successful funded. We will do whatever we can as long spread our works to the community. Further questions? Don't hesitate to let us know.

Well you guys could have partnered with someone in another country, whether it be Collectable Cards, Gamblers, or even United Cardists, to get the project on Kickstarter.

If it will be made available through Murphy's Magic that will give everyone even less incentive to back it because we can just get it later on from any magic or card site.

Hello Jerichoholic,

Thank you for your feedback and advice. To be honest, when come to the marketing deck, we are still new. We didn't have a strong relationship with other company or individual from another country which Kickstarter is supporting. A Strong relationship is required when comes to cooperation as they will handle the money and we will ship the deck. Without full trustworthy this is not possible. Regarding the Murphy' Magic Supplies, although they will distribute our decks, however, they are still benefits when to back us early.

-The more you buy, the more you save.
-Collectible items such as T-Shirt, Impossible Bottle, Uncut sheets and tuck box, signed deck and etc.
-Become the first to get our decks, Murphy's Magic Supplies will only distribute 3 months later after we have shipped our rewards.

However, Indiegogo or Murphy's Magic Supplies is up to our supporters. No matter which one, we are still happy with it as long our works get supported. We are still new and learning in progress, if you have any advice, we are welcome to hear it.

Would love to get it...but indiegogo, heard too many stories about it so i avoid that site.

Love the ace, joker and back design, but don't the 'death 13' (font dont look that great??) would rather have a plain white look :)

Hello Hawk199,

Thank you for interested in our deck. It's sad to hear that major people prefer Kickstarter instead of Indiegogo. Although we also hope our campaign be launched on Kickstarter however, not everything is under our control. Let's wish the best where you can get our deck in the future through our website or your favourite magic store instead of Indiegogo. Lastly, I will forward your feedback to our designer. Have a good day!
