Fat chance- I bet it is. But regardles of theme, is it just me or are most new T11 decks starting to blend together? Don't get me wrong- I like them but they're starting to get a little superfluous.Justin O. wrote:Finger's crossed this isn't another patriotic deck...

Agree completely, that's why I was kinda hoping to see them change theme from their last deck. They are definitely starting to drowned themselves in their stylistic nichevasta41 wrote:Fat chance- I bet it is. I have to use my points so those can be for this.

I was thinking the same thing. What we can see of the front of the tuck looks eerily similar to the Contraband tuck.

Looks kinda like Contraband, which is not a bad thing IMO. Maybe it's from the artist? I don't think that Joe White has released anything for a while so it's possible.

Re: Citizens from Theory 11
So this isn't as bad as E's Madison phase but it's starting to get just as annoying. IMO E was running low on creative juices and rode the Madison train for a while (2 years longer that it should have been but I digress). It seems to me that T11 is EITHER starting to run out of ideas OR thinks they hit it big with the US theme. Maybe all the look-alike decks they've produced lately are flying off the shelves. Hell maybe that happened to E too with all the Madison fan-boys out there buying up all the Rounders, Dealers, Liars, etc. So now T11 is beating a dead horse, albeit a fancier, tiny bit more original horse. But nevertheless this draws the line in the sand, for me anyway- T11 should not do another American themed deck after this one. Don't get me wrong- I love America and I love the theme. But I have over 10 American themed decks in my collection and counting. I get it.

Notice all the pictures of the custom courts? No?... I missed them too
Same old T11; a few custom cards on show (AoS and Joker) and back design - all the other pictures of the deck are various shots of the tucks.

Even the inside of the box has a breathtaking, intricate guilloche pattern. The Joker and back design bear the Latin phrase “Audentes Fortuna Iuvat.” Fortune favors the brave. The Ace of Spades features an iconic Citizen “C” emblem.

Re: Citizens from Theory 11
It's a shame, I thought T11 was being more open to custom courts recently. Without fully custom courts, this deck seems a bit incomplete. I wish the back design of the box was the back of the cards, minus the eye in the center of the spade.
But other than that, wow, what an awesome tuck box. Nobody in the business - not the big online magic sites or KS artists - makes tuck boxes this stunning in quantity. If someone on KS came out with a "limited" edition deck with a tuck like this, they'd be charging 3-4 times the cost of what T11 is charging. And the Citizen wood box is $65, which is far less than what Uusi or Jackson charges for their wood boxes. Thank goodness T11 has the economy of scale on their side so they can produce such decks at the cost they do. Despite the lack of custom courts and tired theme, I'm picking some up for the tuck box alone (I suspect this is what many collectors have been doing for a while now).

Ummm... What other American themed decks T11 has released other than Union? Yeah Rebels, but that was some time ago. Nomad wasn't an American themed deck and neither was Contraband. And is it even 100 % sure that this is an American themed deck? Looks like Contraband 2.0 to me more.
It's nice design but if this does not have custom courts, I'm not getting one.

Re: Citizens from Theory 11
In Theory11's lineup of patriotic decks, we have Rebels, Union, Citizen, and the 3 Tycoon versions (the woman on the back design is clearly designed to represent Lady Liberty, and she is holding the American flag/shield in her hand). You might even be able to argue that all the masonic imagery in the Contraband deck could make it essentially American. Yeah, I think this is enough for this theme...Räpylätassu wrote:Ummm... Re: Citizens from Theory 11
Regardless of the theme (which has been done almost to death) the color scheme T11 keeps using is superfluous. Gold foil embossment over brown or black matte stock looked great the first 3 times they did it. But even more than the American theme those tucks are all starting to blend together.sinjin7 wrote:In Theory11's lineup of patriotic decks, we have Rebels, Union, Citizen, and the 3 Tycoon versions (the woman on the back design is clearly designed to represent Lady Liberty, and she is holding the American flag/shield in her hand). Just a side note, Victor, did your comment on the T11 publication in Facebook got deleted ( it was from some Victor Jose, so...)? Something about not showing the court cards. The tone wasn't really nice, we know you around here, but it seems a bit radical to delete it. And the critic is quite valid!

Re: Citizens from Theory 11
I'll be using some of my elite points on a deck or two probably but not in a rush to pick these up. That box is mighty nice, and while it is a basic design and can be easily made, there still isn't much profit margin in them. They could probably charge $100+ for the box alone and that would still be fair IMO.
How I'd love to have a laser cutter to jazz up my stuff like they do though. Waiting for the machine to complete the top carvings wold be the longest step of construction.
But still, they're nice boxes and I wouldn't mind owning one but being a woodworker couldn't justify buying when I could spend more money to make one myself.

Most of us like 2 way courts and to add to that, we like custom courts more. I see nothing wrong with having custom everything except the courts but I just don't buy them. Custom courts are a must for me even if it's a recolor or something out of the norm.

Re: Citizens from Theory 11
Sure prototype can be made fully embossed and foiled but it needs to produce foiling and embossing plates which are expensive... and producing only few decks with plates will make price insane. Better to use photoshop for renders or to be 100% sure that you are going to use same plates in mass production of tuck boxes.tewodros.getenet wrote:this deck is looking awesome! will grab a few...

For me, a well design tuck comes very far behind the custom cards. My order is as follows:
1. Aces
2. Courts
3. Backs
42. Tucks
Giving me an intricate tucks, nice aces are standard courts won't make me purchase.
