Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest
Good catch on the Black Lions! I really wanted to talk about the hard choices, but since it's still open for a few more days (GET YOUR VOTES IN!) I'll hold off. For now I'll just say I found it hard to pick between decks in a lot of categories, my list was A or B or C and it was tough to pick just one. Thanks again for running this and major props to all the prize sponsors!

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest
Yeah, I had a tough time between a few favorites and to put in my votes before deadline.
I almost was going to pass because it was that hard to pick.
I wish I could of put in top 3 choices in 1, 2 & 3 order.

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest
It's been a great year! Kai & I agreed to take votes through Wednesday night, we had a couple people ask if they could still vote even over on Facebook, and felt it was reasonable.
That being the case, if anyone wants to shirt their vote, let us know by Wednesday!

I believe there are approximately 20-25 entries this year? I need to collate the numbers, expect the results to be out in the next couple of days !octave wrote:Do you have a rough number about how many took part in the contest?

I think my rough count was 29, but there has to be at least one duplicate / changed entry in there, possibly two? Upper 20's, at least.volantangel wrote:I believe there are approximately 20-25 entries this year? A lot of us don't vote, so everyone has a good chance of winning something. We even have a "farthest from the hole" sort of booby prize for the lowest score.octave wrote: Wow, that sounds like really good chances of winning something
I will just go ahead and leave this here, because I can sense that Kai is about ready to post something important "really soon now"!!

Now Mike, you know you're supposed to vote, whether or not you include/exclude yourself from the prize pool. Everyone votes so we get more accurate winners.

I usually do, Brent - and DQ myself, but I've been a little distracted this year. I haven't made a lot of noise about it, but Donna had a "coronary event" that we are trying to track down.Cbkimble wrote:Now Mike, you know you're supposed to vote, whether or not you include/exclude yourself from the prize pool. Because the government is so messed up, Social Security / Medicare now that shes' turned 65 is all you CAN have, unless you're a millionaire I suppose. They make you jump through hoops, hoping you'll die before they pay too much money. This morning we started the journey, doing "radiology" which we all know is useless for a heart attack, except to confirm that "sumptin' don't look rat in thar", so when we were told it would be 2-3 days before we got results, needless to say her main physician calling on the phone in under 3 hours insisting that she see a cardiologist "as soon as possible" is just not a positive sign. Monday morning at 9:30 we go at it again, this time with the real doctor she needs, instead of hoop jumping.

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
Wow. Congratulations to all the winners. They really deserve it.
Also, extra kudos to all the great decks that didn't quite make it. It was a year overflowing with wonderful decks.
Not to get too maudlin, but everyone is a winner to me!
And edit: Looks like I scored 46! Better then last year!

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
27 points. Meh. About the same as last year, when I was brand new to this place.... go figure.
Lorenzo's decks and the Omnia campaign were better than I gave them credit for. Props to them. The one that surprised me though was that Hive didn't even place in the best tuck category. I count that LE tuck as one of my nicest.

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
58 points if I did my math right. Much better than I thought I'd do since there were so many great decks to choose from. I was also surprised that HIVE 2 didn't get into the top 3 of any category. I thought about it for best tuck, but did have it for best use of color so a big 0 for that category. Also blew the best coin category, should have stuck with my first choice in Omnia, but changed it to Arcana -- another big 0 for that one.

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
46 for me. Also better than last year. I was sure Branle would win for best Jokers and since I loved them I thought it was a sure win. I was surprised they didn't even place. Big goose egg there. Another surprise was Seasons didn't place for best coin and even though there were a lot of good coins this year, I thought Seasons was by far the best. Big goose egg number two.
Congrats to the winners.....

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!! (wap)
I'm figuring up 47 points. I was also surprised that the seasons coin didn't even place. I think seasons was slightly underrated this year.
Lorenzo had a magnificent year. I was a little disappointed that he wasn't in the top 3 for best series. I was almost certain that the number 17 crown edition would have locked for best tuck. Since he has another one coming out this year, hopefully, next year it will win. Congratulations!!!
Lotrek did quite well. If it hadn't have been for the unfortunate circumstances with ICONS(my apologies for re-opening a huge wound) , he would've been a lock for deck of the year and several other categories. Congrats on your winning categories.
While I'm not a huge fan of Giovanni, he did have quite a year. Congratulations!!!
Jackson had a great year with his tally to series. Congratulations!!!
I was really pleased to see Randy rack up several wins with cosmic bowling and draconians. Congratulations!!!
While I didnt back the Arcana project, it was by far the best KS campaign. Congratulations!!!
For all the other winners Congratulations!!! It was an amazing year and it keeps getting better every year.

It looks like 38 points for me. It's only my first year collecting and I missed out on a lot of decks (Heretic, for example). I had to go with what I was familiar. I'm just happy that I wasn't totally out of sync with everyone else. Congratulations to everyone that voted and thanks to everyone that donated prizes. Speaking of which, how do we choose our tiers?

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
Congrats to all the winners, all well-deserved. Here are some of my observations:
2015 was the year of Lorenzo, with 6 total 1st place votes, with Giovanni acquitting himself well with 4 total 1st place votes.
I felt Uusi had 2 great decks with Uusi Classic and BRuT, but they were shut out of any 1st place votes, which partially explains my relatively low point total with my ballot.
I kinda feel Seasons was overlooked as well.
I thought the No. 17 Crown Edition tuck box was a lock for Best Tuck Box. I can't believe I was wrong.
My biggest whiff was on Best Deck for Magic. For some reason, I completely forgot about Blaine's Black Lions deck....
If you voted for Omnia in every category, you would've still ended up with 33 points!
Seeing these results makes me realize how many strong decks came out in 2015.
Big thanks to Kai, Mike, and everyone else involved in producing the best playing cards contest in the world!

If you voted for Omnia in every category, you would've still ended up with 33 points!
Seeing these results makes me realize how many strong decks came out in 2015.
Big thanks to Kai, Mike, and everyone else involved in producing the best playing cards contest in the world!

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
Well I've checked, double checked & even triple checked my score and I still get 47 points, pretty amazed for a first timer
Very surprised that Tendril Ascendant / Nightfall didn't get a few more votes. I guess it was so long ago most people forgot about it.
A big Congrats to all the winners and thanks to all the sponsors and to Mike & Kai for making this contest such a success.

Re: 2015 Deck of the Year Contest - Winners !!!!
Hi guys!
If my math came out right then I got a 48.
It was tough making these choices and was surprised that Kings and Crooks coin wasn't in the top 3 though my other choice would have been Seasons.
Thought Omnia qualified for Best Deck Series...
Anyhow good luck to everyone and thanks to everyone involved in making this contest and to all who donated prizes.
