Re: Call Box Playing Cards by Penguin Magic

Okay, I gave this some thought, which may not interest anyone but me. 8-) I would have two separate decks for the classic series (1963-1989) and new series (2005-present). I'll work on the latter, but here would be my choices for the former. Great suggestions. I would go so far as to also want a vi...

Does anyone actually LIKE bar separators? Every once in a while they don't bother me, but between that design choice and the lack of color I'm underwhelmed.

Re: Phenex Reborn by Charlie Dreams the Cat

I was so excited to get my first Charmie decks on the last campaign, especially Eye of the Kukulkan. When I had them in hand I realized how they were not too shiny and cards are thick and plastic like. They cost me around 25$ each and so I expected more. Unless a theme really gets my attention, I'm...

Just wanted to jump in and say the Portfolio52 import feature appeared to work flawlessly. So easy to transfer my collection! What isn't working for me (Chrome/Macbook Air) is the custom reordering. Each deck I move stays for a second then jumps to a random spot. I wish I could support you right now...

The court illustrator seems to be the same as Bloom's Urashima Room One deck. They would be good companions to each other, but I just can't afford more cards that are ALMOST outstanding.

There is just one KWP Tally-Ho deck a collection needs and we all now which one it is. He should just reprint the OG. Btw, could we please stop calling the courts Jackson uses “KWP courts”? Unless we wanna call e.g. Bicycle courts from now on “Daniel Schneider courts” 🤷‍♀️. Is the OG the first blue...

I understood the emotion, it was just that the sameness of the profile, tilt, mouth, nose and eye, jumped out at me Now that HB's pointed it out, despite some small shading differences, the King's face looks just like the Jack's but with a beard and different hat. Maybe they are twins? I still love...

Yes, more decks printed compared to the others (700-850) but still, not sure why this deck isn't as popular as the rest. Anyone have an idea why? Not sure if it means anything, but for me personally I decided a long time ago I don't like decks with black "fronts." It was the first KWP KS ...

I would be fine with this release if it came alongside much more creative decks, but to use KS for something like this which required very little design time or innovation is disheartening.

Re: Dave Stevens' Rocketeer Playing Cards [KS]

I appreciate the attempt, but as someone who has all the Dave Stevens Rocketeer comics, a deck that reproduces comic art on the cards doesn't do it for me. In my mind, a home run would be a deck that has a more standard format and uses character art while looking like an "artifact" from th...

I adore this deck's illos and design (I'm especially a sucker for custom pips like on the green deck) but Eric is spot on that this is just too expensive for what it is. And I'm about done supporting Kickstarters for anyone without a WELL established track record, as sad as that is.

I agree with most here that something is "off" about this design, but I can't peg what it is. The illustrations look excellent but somehow all the disparate design elements don't quite come together. I have yet to find a Japan-themed deck that feels like Japan to me.
