Re: Genovesi
I grew up with four corner indices present on all playing cards, I'm right handed, and I only use the top-right index during gameplay. Having indices only in the left corner is the same as having no indices for me. So I'd rather play with 4-index cards for practicality (or no index cards, which are ...

Re: Russian Fairy Oracle
Is this a Lenormand deck? Yes it looks like it is a Lenormand deck. For one or two of the cards the symbolism is perhaps less obvious, but if you go through all the cards the great majority of them very clearly correspond to the Lenormand meanings. I suppose for a project like this where all the ar...

Hopefully I'm not stating the obvious about the artwork here, but from the picture posted above, at least the KoH is a modification of the standard Paris pattern KoH:

Re: Killekort
Kille in this context doesn't mean the same thing as the usual Swedish word kille (boy). It is usually actually pronounced differently --- kille the cards have a soft k (as expected from the spelling), whereas kille for boy has a hard k like karl (also boy). It may be derived from the word Harlekin ...

I discovered that someone was making the standard Swiss Jass cards in a classic full figure version. So I ordered some, and I can show you some pictures. Very nice, and unusual to be able to find a new edition of such full figure cards. These cards were drawn by Jens Riedweg in Switzerland, and this...

Re: Playing card art books
Sylvia Mann's All the Cards on the Table is a great history of the standard patterns, I don't own this book, and it's out of print. One book with lots of pictures of very old cards that you might like is called The World in Play, it was produced as a kind of catalogue of an exhibition at the met mus...

Maybe someone who speaks Icelandic better than me will correct me, but "Askja Med Tvennum Spillum" seems to me to mean "box with two decks" ... so maybe you get two decks. Or maybe not.

Thanks Decknowledgy for reporting back on this. Do you know of other Mamluk recreations? I have the Cartamundi one and the Viceroys that were inspired by Mamluk playing cards but my quest ended there. It looks like a traditional type of design, but am I right in thinking you have come up with this yourself? I think well done for creating a classic vibe. I remember you posted something here before (I guess it was you) along similar lines, but with ordinary shaped cards, and maybe less of a unified...

Re: The Parlour Playing Cards (TGW)
One thing I am curious about is the spelling of Parlour. I mean I spell it like that all the time so it didn't strike me until now, but I was under the impression that that's not the US preferred spelling. Are you using it to evoke an old-fashioned vibe?
