Re: Olympus Playing Cards *COMING SOON* TO KS

I like your style. And I really like that Medusa ace! It's seriously badass. :) But I have to be honest that I really don't like the shiny effect you have on the cards. Also, even though I really like the ace, the style doesn't seem connected with the rest of the deck. Thanks. it's not done though....

Re: The Lumberjacks - 2nd edition

I would go with second version. Looks unique, minimal and generally fills the card. Interesting. I see what you did there. The king is stabbing himself on the second one on the hand. Clever idea for a suicide king. Good Job.

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

Was wondering what would happen if I make it gold and put it under a red background so it could match the tuck/card back and overall theme of the deck.

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

When i first started collecting cards off kickstarter at the beginning of the year, i had not heard of Bicycle brand cards and i`m 43 years old. I`ve backed decks with and without branding, i`ve backed decks from a wide variety of printers, including some very small printers in britain. The only th...

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

Agree with both of your points. But I am in NO WAY saying that simply putting a bicycle logo on a cheap design will attract collectors. I was specifically researching the likes/dislikes of people in Kickstarter by simply glimpsing the successful projects. And it did turn out that most of them were ...

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

Truth be told, it's impossible to say which is the best choice beforehand. What I would recommend is that you look at your work and your vision of what you want to make. Does Bicycle branding fit with that, or even better, compliment it? If so, then by all means choose to get it. If it doesn't, the...

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

Bicycle branded decks in fact do have higher chances of success since they are known for their quality which attracts masses. But then again we have unbranded decks like muertos which made over $150,000. The branding doesn't add nor remove anything related to quality, and I would think (or at least...

Re: Bicycle branded vs Non branded ??

Mods will move it to the right section. Well isn't that just convenient. Just post anywhere! We'll sort it out like an uptight librarian with OCD. Don't you worry! One thing I'll say: if you think the success of a deck depends on wether it's branded or not; then get back to the drawing board until ...

shooting out my deck in kickstarter soon. Need help with branding. Re: Olympus Playing Cards *COMING SOON* TO KS

@Levereno - I like what I see. If your courts don't have borders why should your back if card. If I had to pick, I pick your second one and try to extent this as far as I could to the top left. Mike is right. No man land is about an ⅛ of an inch. Do you like that the column is split in two? MagikFi...

Re: Olympus Playing Cards *COMING SOON* TO KS

purely preference perhaps, but I was really excited when I saw the draft drawings and disappointing when I saw the colored mockups. I think you are losing a lot of detail with the red background on the face of the cards. The back works, but the face is just too dark and not enough contrast. I liked...

Re: Olympus Playing Cards *COMING SOON* TO KS

The court is nice although a little transparent. lol. IMO, the pips should be spread out a little more, but that's my preference. I prefer the back under the king. thanks mate. decided to keep the numbers little transparent while popping them out just a little bit so that they can look rather simpl...

That's not a spatter though. That's a murder flocking to form a raven. I kinda like that. http://s30.postimg.org/ebjvv95f4/Untitlednmmnnnnnnn.jpg Agreed with all the people here. One thing that you should open up a room for improvement is the JofC. Yes, we're working on that now, which semi circle are you referring to? The one in the middle or the one at the top? The one(s) crossing the column(s) on the sides. What would you recommend? modify it or completely get rid of it? Just knowing what we expect to here - especially from Tom is that the...

Welcome, Scott! You've obviously done your research, and the art looks great. There's a bit too much gold for my taste though (purely subjective, of course). What color scheme will the faces use? I also agree that the semi-circle looks slightly out of place, the difference in color makes it look li...

Great catch, your a keen observer. Yes, the temple is influenced by Erechtheum to give it a general greek look with ionic columns. True, the temple of posiedon (at Sounion and Paestum) doesn't have ionic columns but our temple structure was influenced by Erechtheum which also had other functions, t...

Hmm, I don't think Demeter is included among the 12 Olympians. Am I missing something here? These are 12 Mainstream Olympians confirmed by mytho scholars. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Athena Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Ares, Hermes. Overtime there may have been some slight modif...

Yes, Hades fits for the Underworld deck, but after days of research, I found out that scholars who have mastered the ancient greek mythology do say that Hades wasn't completely banished, and that he still is an acceptable figure among the Olympians (otherwise there would only be 11 Olympians). Ther...
