I love the look, but I never like the way these sorts of decks often make it hard to see the indices.

The concept is neat-- I'd love a neon outlined designed, but this just looks like photos run through some photoshop filters and it really falls flat.

The maze theme is neat, it's not the greatest thing ever but I think it's fun. I'll probably get in on this.

Re: The Ancients Bicycle® Playing Cards Deck - KICKSTARTER

There's massive international shipping changes coming at the end of the month from the USPS, not just the rate hike. I suspect it's mostly the rate hike that killed this though.

Eh, you gotta do what you gotta do. You can certainly say who made it when you kickstart/sell it, I am sure, and as long as the quality's there in the end, who could reasonably quibble?

Re: SurrealScapes Body Art & Creative Photography, v2.0

Hmmm... It's not really that big of an issue for me, and I might just grow to like it as I see it more (it has happened before). Hard to say without having the actual deck though. It might also help to hear someone else's perspective on the backs, if anyone has any similar or different views. I kin...

Re: Out Of This World Space Age Playing Cards now live on KS

I'm not disputing we're seeing a bunch of low-effort decks this month, but how in the world can you say this is the best of the lot when it's a set of 10 stock images, and every other one you listed at least has some sort of original art?

Re: Bicycle Lucent by Sean Whelan - KICKSTARTER LIVE !

Honestly I think it's less to do with extra swag (though I can't imagine having some stuff hurts) and more to do with getting the word out-- think of the decks that really knock it out of the park, they're not just going after the card enthusiast market, they're spreading their nets as wide as they ...

Not a great selection of stock art, and while I don't mind this style of cards if they've got good art, but this is just bland.

Blurrrrgh. This is a real failure in execution. The idea of the courts is really sort of cute, but it just falls flat on the card.

Re: Bohemia by Uusi - Kickstarter Successful

How about instead of "liking" you just draw random names from your backers list? (USPCC - Trusted since 1885!) Because tying it to 'likes' limits it people who both a) are actively paying attention, and b) who you know for certain want it. Putting people in for draws whether they want it ...

See, these you could sell as pins, and they'd look really sharp. I think you've done a nice job of hitting that enamelled look, they're really nice.

Got mine too, they look really sharp. I don't know that they feel any different to me than any other air-cushion finish. The case is nice too, and it's a nice budget alternative to the Porper clips, I wish more kickstarters would do them.

I think it's a bit less that women don't like hardcore stuff so much-- it's more true than not but there's a pretty significant proportion of women who thoroughly enjoy seeing sweaty naughty bits pounding each other, so to speak. Yeah, I think it's a lot more that there are more pinup decks geared t...

I suppose but it's also conditioned into a lot of creatives to take less pay because of that perception that the work is worth less, so they'll put themselves out there for less and less. It's really a sadly self-perpetuating problem. I dunno, because of this I'm not so quick to be down on people wh...

Neither would (or should) you ask someone to take a significant pay cut just because they like what they're doing. It's really hard for artists and designers to get fair pay for their work on such projects because there's often a perception-- one that's voiced uncomfortably loudly in this thread and...

By the same token, Kickstarter is not a store, and it's not just a fancy preorder system. The idea of pledging at all is you give the money to the Kickstarter owner because you want to see them do what they're collecting money for. Generally, pledges for a physical object are in the same realm of co...
