Re: Arcana by Chris Ovdiyenko - coming to KS Jan 1, 2015
Hey guys, Just saw this thread and thought I'd jump on to clear up the one-way back thing. The back of the box (with tree and roots) actually isn't the card back. I have a card back that's a true two way design based on the front of the box. The tree/root design was something I wanted to include on ...

Re: Volstead by Chris Ovdiyenko
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on the barrels. I was trying to stay true to the apollo card back I was basing the design on: http://www.wopc.co.uk/assets/images/countries/usa/national/apollo-2-large.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That said, it does seem like a lot - ...

Re: Heretic playing cards by Lorenzo! Now showing only here
Hey man, it's all good - I'm pretty early in the design process for it with just a few elements done, so it's cool. By the way, I was going to call it Splendor Solis after the German illuminated manuscript (though I wasn't picking up that look and feel). So I'll switch to plan B - I was working on i...

Re: Calaveras — Playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dea
muertitas are awesome - but like sugar skulls they don't fit the time period and the work that Posada did. The queen's are going to be amazing though - I'm working one up now and will also do one as an homage to the famous "big hat" catrina that posada did: https://www.peabody.harvard.edu/...

Re: Calaveras — Playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dea
Just wanted to send a note re: int. shipping. It's a lot, I know, and I'm not happy about it. The issue behind the pricing is that I have no way of calculating the shipping based on where you actually are. For instance, shipping to Canada is way cheaper than shipping to Macao or Kazakhstan. But I've...

Re: Calaveras — Playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dea
Definitely a labor saver for a project like this ;) I'll ask my buddy for his pricing with shipping to Canada, he charges me $40 a plate for 12x14". I also found this site, but can't speak to the quality (though it's pretty pricey): http://www.etchpop.com/" onclick="window.open(this.h...

Re: Calaveras — Playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dea
For the samples I used a baren and spoon to pull the test prints. But I'm thinking that it's going to be a little much to do that for all the prints so I've been looking into making a bottlejack press: http://nataliamoroz.com/studio.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Peopl...

Re: Calaveras — Playing cards inspired by the Day of the Dea
Hey guys, I'm the designer of the Calaveras deck. Just wanted to let you know I really wanted to make the faces 2-way, but the detail was going to be sacrificed and also the skulls would have ended up being really small. Also, about the prints, here's a quick run down on how I'm making the cards and...
